Quote of the week, and it would help if I can actually remember exact words, but will try:
Work Colleague in response to one of many headache inducing issues at work, where people have contradicting views on the same problem:
Of course...Everyone has their own opinion and own perspective, and they believe they are right and you, wrong. On every single topic. Always. There's just no talking to them.
Sigh.
True.
Highlights of the work week?
Tornado hit NYC. Which is clearly better than hurricane, although some people in NYC think it actually was a hurricane. So, I guess better depends on your definition of the word hurricane. (Most arguments methinks are really just about semantics).
There were sightings of cast members from the Good Wife near work place. One guy took photos of Michael J Fox, Julianne Marguiles, and Christine Baranski all standing outside the courthouse that is just two blocks up from workplace. I stumbled onto their trailers (huge trucks) but not on the actual people. I swear - a television film crew entails fifteen foot long trucks, a foot long bus, and two streets being closed off, plus lots of signs being posted ahead of time warning us they are going to do it. It never fails to amaze me how much money we are willing to throw away on entertainment, and how little we are willing to spend on infrastructure and basic human needs which we take for granted - such as public transportation, food, shelter, education, and safety. If we cared a bit more for each other and a bit less about whatever tv show we are addicted to or sports team we're obsessed with, methinks the world would be a nicer place. Just saying.
I've decided not to cross-post this to lj. So don't look for it over there.

Date: 2010-09-18 11:18 pm (UTC)I couldn't get agreement on how to interpret two relatively minor procedures this week.
It never fails to amaze me how many ways there are to interpret one thing.
