Ipad apps and where I get my snark from..
Jan. 19th, 2012 07:45 pmVia Kidbro (who is one of the many reasons I support the Strike against SOPA/PIPA, he does a lot of internet work and runs his own small internet marketing business - must defend the BRO! Even if he's oblivious) and the Momster - a few cool apps:
NPR
BBC World News
PBS - which includes Sherlock S2 and all the Dowtown Abbey episodes - yay!
If you want to know why I'm so critical of what I read and watch? Blame the Momster. And blame the Dadster for the cronic snarkiness - I learned it early on, he got it from his Dad. It's frigging genetic. The Dadster, Kidbro, Sisinlaw, and I can go snark on each other. Learned how early on with Kidbro (when I realized that we couldn't do the physical wrestling matches any longer - he was stronger than me physically, so I got better at the verbal battles.) Snark? I Rule! Law school just made me better at it. And, ahem, more obnoxious.
But, also cursed/blessed with empathy, handed down over generations from woman to woman...niece is highly empathetic as well. I blame Granny. Granny handed it down to all of us...starting with the momster and ending with my niece. It is useful at times. But makes life confusing, when you can see everyone's side of the argument, also makes you feel guilty for the snark. Adore niece. Smiling Icon is of my Niece (one I'm using now) - who is in love with books, loves fantasy, and loves Dick van Dyke. My brother daughter has bonded my brother, sisinlaw, and me for eternity. I would die for my niece. Seriously, I would race in front of a moving car or a speeding bullet to save that little girl. She is my heart, my soul, the daughter that I will never have, she shares DNA via kidbro, and she reminds me of myself. Clutsy, Spastic, a book-a-phile, and so incredibly empathetic. And the most beautiful little girl in the world. Talimamma told me once - wait until you have a niece, you experience a whole new kind of love. And the Momster insisted that I hold niece when she was a tiny baby...crying...and she quieted, and me all baby phobic, fell immediately in love when I held her close to my heart. I figured it out then - children are precious things. We live on in them, even if they are through a sibling. I may/most likely never have a child, but I have my niece, and that is enough.
Kidbro is so cool. He had long chat with the Momster. And they chatted about movies. He isn't thrilled with Scorsese. Took niece, Cedarkins to Hugo. But was unimpressed. Says outside of Scorsese pre-Leanoardo Di Capri arc, has been less than impressed. I agree. The last several movies have been boring. Haven't seen Hugo, but trust Kidbro who is into visuals, he said its okay but now inspiring. Kidbro/Momster/and I have discussed and critiqued movies and tv shows ad naseum, we all love serials, hate episodic. We are all shameless movie buffs. I blame the Momster - who is a shameless culture junkie and critical as all get-out. She criticizes what she loves.
If you knew my family, I would make sense.
