The name game

So, I went to the internet site to see how many people in the US, this is just the US by the way, who have my given name (not the lj one):

There are people with my name in the U.S.A. How many have your name?

My first name: 586,381 people - the 87th most popular first name

My last name: 69,597- the 493rd most popular last name (again in the US, if we were doing this in Wales - different story. My last name in Wales is what Smith is in the US. Made life easy when I was traveling around Wales collecting folktales in the 1980s, that and the fact that I was American and not English. The Welsh back then did not like the English. This may have changed, can't tell. Although watching Torchwood makes me think not so much.)

There are 133 people in the US with my first and last name. I actually think there are more, but again they are just counting the census and the ones in the US. I found someone who is a folklore specialist, with a PHd in Mythology and Folklore, living in Wales, with the same name as mine. Was a weird experience.

As an aside, would love to know how many people in the world have my name.

There are 3 w/my name, & I actually already knew of the 2 others! 1 of them even lived in NYC for awhile; I saw her name in the phone book. (I list my name w/just my initial; I called the other "me" & told her I have the same name in case anyone called her looking for me.) The other one I knew about when I was growing up in DC, because her family's last name was in the name of a small chain of fish restaurants in Virginia, & once when my family ate at 1 of them, we commented on having the same last name & found out someone in their family had the same 1st name as me. (And I know they're not the same person because I asked the NY "me" if she was from Va. & she said no!) @>)
