Got this from a work colleague -
"When you are arguing with a fool, make sure he/she isn't doing the same thing." -- Unknown.
Things I've learned this week - that writing carefully is not as easy as it looks. At work I screwed up by stating that "an RFP had to be extended because the bid was not competive". In my defense, I was overwhelmed and writing quickly. What I should have stated was: the RFP (Request for Proposal) had to be extended because the proposals received were not competitive, it was not a matter of cost."
My boss told me what he wanted me to learn from the experience was to be careful to be definitive and precise with my terminology - so that rational minds will be able to understand and comprehend. (And not send me condescending emails after I worked my collective butt of to get something out.) Sort of discovered the same things online. Writing may be easy, writing carefully and precisely, however, is not.
