A bit behind on my television reviewing. Actually behind on a lot of things. Balmy day...in the 60s, in February. Not complaining. Lovely walk around the park at lunch. Included a five minute bench sit. I just hope it's this nice tomorrow when I have to hop about Long Island on a four-five hour site tour, exploring railroad substations. Last time I did this it was pouring and freezing. Really would prefer not to have a repeat. There's nothing worse than trudging around substations outside in uncomfortable safety work boots while it is pouring. It's going to be in the 40s tomorrow...which isn't bad, I guess, but I would have preferred the 50s for the site tour.

Just watched Ringer which has got to be the worst written television series that I've watched in years. It's so bad, it's unintentionally hilarious in places. Yes, folks, it actually is worse than the daytime soap operas. The show makes no sense. Not that many daytime soaps do, but they make more sense than this thing does. Talk about things that take you out of the story? Where to start? I honestly don't know why I'm still tuning in. Or why I watched it instead of Dowton Abbey or Justified tonight. Mindless entertainment? Bad taste? Take your pick. Or just plain curiousity...I want to see how silly it gets. Also, I want to know what the heck Siobhan is doing and more importantly why.

* So, I guess Juliet's claim about being raped by Mr. C was legit? If so? That was poorly written and not well acted. Not to mention incredibly cliche. Question? Why do television writers continue to think it is a great idea to further a character's arc with rape cliche? It makes me sort of want to lock them all in room and make them watch The Accused for 48 hours straight. Or better yet rape scenes from all tv shows. Seriously, this is a television trope that needs to be put to death. It's becoming offensive. Particularly when women are raped on average two per minute and 95% of rapists go free. I wish that was an exaggeration. Plus its a waste of Jason Dohring, who is a decent actor.

* Siobhan is creepily lurking about Bridget, and making googley eyes at poor confused Henry. I'm starting to feel sorry for Henry. Siobhan approaches Henry and tells him that she misses him, and still loves him. Henry - WHAT? So Henry agrees to meet with her. Of course she stands him up, because she gets stuck in her apartment spying on Andrew and Bridget. Upset, Henry confronts Bridget who has just made up with some past friend of Siobhan's who we never heard of until this episode and whose name I forget. Henry - make up your mind, stop playing me. Bridget - Whatt???
Henry - why'd you call me all day? Bridget - Whattt? (Henry? You know Siobhan has a twin sister, right? Take the mental leap...it's not that hard! And it would explain so much. Who'd have thunk it? Gemma was actually the brains in that marriage. Actually Gemma is looking brighter than half the cast, with the exception Bridget's AA Sponsor...who actually does appear to have a working brain.)

*Siobhan manages to lurk in the apartment with Bridget and Andrew not that far away, and steal Bridget's ring while Bridget is in the shower, without Bridget noticing. Okaay. Siobhan clearly has superpowers...and can wander about on ghost feet. (Bridget notices the ring missing, but perplexed...as to how it just up and disappeared from the dish she so carefully placed it in - she decides whoopsie it must have fallen down the drain. No, Bridge...your evil twin wandered in and took it.)

* The hair-stylist is enabling us to tell Siobhan from Bridget, since Sarah Michelle Gellar can't quite cut it on her own. Hint? Siobhan wears her hair up, while Bridget wears her hair down.
If this was reality...you'd think one of them would just get a hair-cut or dye their hair.

* Apparently Siobhan hates Andrew and Bridget for some reason. We still have no clue why and the series is way past the half-way mark. But hope springs eternal that maybe we'll find out in the next episode, along with another character copting on to the twin switcheroo. Of course, considering what happened to the last character who figured it out...this may not be a good thing for character longevity. (Henry? You may not be long for this world. Although I can't see Siobhan killing him...since, she loooves him.) At any rate Siobhan is busy busy downloading Andrew's financial information and codes, so that she can expose him with the help of her current boy-toy, dupe.

* Meanwhile the FBI/cop is beginning to figure out that something is fishy with Siobhan and Bridget. Siobhan met with Charlie, not Bridget. Why? Go FBI guy - I'm actually rooting for FBI guy, I've decided he's the protagonist in this thing, him and the AA sponsor. Waitress to FBI guy: She called herself Siobhan? What kind of name is that? (Actually that's not that weird a name, a lot of people have that name. It's Irish. Now, if it were Cedar or Apple or Pollan or one of those newfangled names, I'd have understood. But Siobhan is an old name. Where has this waitress been?)

* Juliet decides to tell Siobridget that Mr. C raped her. And is oddly surprised that Siobridget hits him at the party. (Now if it had really been Siobhan, he probably would have left the party none the wiser, but then it's unlikely the real Siobhan would have cared to either throw the party for Juliet's school or go ask Juliet why she was so upset.) Mr. C appears to be shocked about all this, which makes me wonder if I'm supposed to believe that he raped Juliet or if Juliet pretended he did. I really hope they aren't going the cry rape route. The only thing worse than the television rape trope is the false and/or cry rape trope.

*Ion Gruffald looks bored. I don't blame him. I'd be bored. He has nothing to do but look pertpetually perplexed or bewildered all the time. The poor guy, it's hard to envision him as a successful business man in high finance...when he looks so clueless 90% of the time. Maybe his partner is running the business and he's just floating on her coat-tails.

Next week? Henry is supposed to find out what Siobhan has been planning. How much you want to bet this is a mislead? This show is somewhat frustrating...it promises one thing but never quite delivers. Oh well, with any luck they wrapped up the whole Juliet/Mr. C thing fast. We didn't even have to see them arrest Mr. C - which I was quite thankful for. I'm hoping that storyline just disappears. (Soap operas have a tendency to drop story threads that don't work...as if they never existed. All of sudden, you go, wait...what happened to that character or story line? It disappeared! It did. The writers couldn't figure out what to do. So they just dropped it. And hoped the audience forget about it and not notice. )

Off to watch something better before bed.

No, Mr C. is still being framed. (Always expect the worst. Then if things get better you'll always be pleasantly surprised. ;o) ) If Juliet's girlfriend hadn't been there, maybe Juliet wouldn't have lied again... Notice there was no word whatsoever from anyone about contacting the police. The whole business could easily disappear. On the other hand the whole point of the party was for Siobhet to punch Mr C and throw him out.

Let's face it, if the FBI guy wasn't a total idiot he would have asked Siobhet for her fingerprints months ago.

I can't remember what Siobhet's hair was like at the party, but I keep thinking that Henry should have noticed something odd about how many times her hair changed over a couple days.

I have no idea what Siobhan thinks she's doing.

Maybe. I wouldn't notice. Who knows what Henry notices?

You're right. People don't tend to notice changes in hairstyle or clothes except when they are watching people on tv and it is underlined.
In reality? Not so much.

I got my haircut in November - and it was a major change. And no one noticed until two months later. Oh, they would occassionally give me this odd look...what is different, then shake their head and shrug. It was rather amusing, also disconcerting - made me wonder if it was a bad haircut. Two months later? People would come up and ask..."did you get your hair cut?"

Actually, if he'd done that - she could have turned him down. The only time he could have gotten her fingerprints was if she was arrested. Which she wasn't. Or a suspect in Gemma's death - again not. Her hubby would have had his lawyers stop that right quick.

Due process prevents finger-printing without just cause. Sure you could bring up the twin thing, but she can still protest. (I'm not sure the writers know this though. They aren't the most detail oriented writers in the universe. Because...if they were, they would have had him sneak and get her fingerprints another way, or have him ask Siobhet for fingerprints and have Siobhet plant her sister's.)

Otherwise generally agree. Although I hope you are wrong about Mr.C/Juliet...that story doesn't work no matter how you cut it.

I know, right? Those people are not very observant of their surroundings.

I mostly watch to see what kind of outlandish clothes the "twins" will wear. They keep putting Sarah Michelle Gellar in clothes so big and cumbersome that she looks like a little girl playing in her mommy's closet. :-P
