Apparently the Mid-Atlantic States or rather everyone south of Brooklyn got snow dumped on them.
We got maybe two inches if that. Staten Island, about thirty minutes away got about ten. Philadelphia got 18. Very weird.

Not that I'm complaining. Foot was swollen again. Haven't done anything. No clue why it was swollen. It doesn't hurt. Just sort of stiff and numb, like the toes have fallen asleep, with a dull ache. It worries me. I'm hoping a massage tomorrow will help it. Took aleve tonight, decided that may be part of the reason. It helps with inflamation and I'd been taking it all week, just didn't today, which may be why it got swollen? Trying not to freak out about it. In some respects I preferred the sprained ankle - because at least I knew what I did to it.

Been watching tv shows...

1. Vampire Diaries - If you ever wondered what would happen if Kevin Williamson, the writer behind the Scream flicks and Dawson's Creek wrote Buffy and Angel, this what you'd get.
It feels like Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Dawson's Creek or maybe Angel meets Dawson's Creek is more apt comparison? It's campy. But sort of fun. The only thing is... I'm not really sure I'm supposed to be rooting for the vampires? Yet I am. Particularly Damon - who is the best thing in it. Also makes me miss Buffy - which gave me a cool and interesting group of female heroines. Another reason I'm rooting for the vampires - Katherine and Pearl (vampires) and Emily (their witch companion) had serious chutzpah, Elena, Bonnie, and Jenna are wimps.

2. Life Unexpected - this feels a bit like Seventh Heaven meets the Gilmore Girls. Slanted a bit more towards Seventh Heaven and missing the witty dialogue and writing of the original husband and wife team that did GG. It makes me miss Gilmore Girls.

3. Damages - really good. Better than last season. With red-hot dramatic performances by actors known for comedic roles: Martin Short and Lily Tomlin. Twisty. Fun. And intricately plotted.
If you haven't tried this baby, this is the season to start. So much better than last year.

4. Supernatural - fun, but ghod, the female characterizations continue to make me cringe.
I like the show, but I wish it were a touch less sexist at times. Granted it is noir and we are in the pov of two guys who have no female role models and were raised without a mother, so it makes sense and is clearly deliberate and I think you are supposed to cringe. I'm willing to bet money that the creator of Supernatural watched Bill Paxton's noir thriller, Fraility, a couple of times. The characterizations and mythology is that similar.
It clearly inspired this. That said, I rather enjoyed last week's episode Body Swap Meat.
Haven't seen this one's yet.

5. Being Erica - cute show. Have decided to DVR it . You don't really need to know what happened before, fairly easy to piece together. Not in love with it. Reminds me of too many similar shows that I've seen. But it is cute and has some interesting characters and themes.
Also the going back in time bit to resolve current issues is a fairly innovative take on time-travel.

Yay for Damages being good again! I hope it doesn't take too long to be shown over here.

Hee. See this is how I felt about Torchwood, Doctor Who, Merlin, Life on Mars, and Being Human - along with quite a few shows that never make it over here. Not sure we'll get Misfits...although from some of the reviews, that may not be a bad thing.

It's so nice to see Being Erica getting some love on my flist! I don't know where you're at in viewing but the second season is way better than the first. It's still a lightweight show but they get a bit arc-y and go in some unexpected directions.

It's on SoapNet. And the episode I watched was the one where Erica volunteers to take care of her pal Judith's baby in the attempt to save their friendship which she feels is faltering. Haven't seen any of the episodes before that point.

I like it better than Life Unexpected and some of the other series that are more or less attempting the same sort of vibe. One of the guys at work had recommended it to me some time ago, but my DVR was overburdened...so couldn't make the time for it. Now that I've divorced several tv shows...and Lost has jumped to Tuesdays, and Dollhouse has bitten the dust. I can actually try it out.

I think that's towards the start of the second season, which just finished airing up here in Canada before Christmas. Enjoy! I think you'll like Kai.

I found 'Being Erica' boring, so I stopped watching it. I *loved* 'Frailty' and you're right - there are definitely similarities. Haven't seen 'Life Unexpected'. And I'm behind on 'The Vampire Diaries'.
