Hee. Shipperx is now doing Farscape metas. So, I'm not the only one on flist who is rewatching? Cool.

Watched a fascinating commentary on "Crackers Don't Matter" last night that was basically an actress interviewing her director and the director interviewing his actress. Claudia Black and Ian Watson - two veterans of film, stage and screen - were interviewing each other on the process and what challenges tv actors and director undertake. During the interview - Watson stated some fairly good advice for all of us:

"As my Dad used to say - Never Argue with Anyone Who Thinks They Are Right".

(Yep.)

Watson also stated that it is important for actors to feel relaxed on the set.
That the directors job is to set that tone. To provide them with the space and freedom to be in the moment they are attempting to create. Acting, as Claudia Black, stated, is about reacting. Listening. You need to listen.

Ugh. No time. Off to walk around Rufus Park if not too hot, chocolat back to work.

I have to admit that as weird as that episode is, I always enjoy "Crackers Don't Matter." It's one of those weird, weird episodes that Farscape would produce every now and again, but I rather love its sheer weirdness and goofiness. Points to icon. :)

The commentary to it is bizarre - because they only reference the episode twice - Watson discusses how he did two minor stunts. And how to frame a story or how you know if a show is well directed and edited - you can tell by how many scenes further the story and how many distract from the story or don't fit within the arc of the story.

The episode itself? Is rather brilliant - because it is discussing the dark side of each character, the insanity of being cooped up with each other in space for a lengthy period of time, and it also depicts the cracks in Crichton. He states that he isn't really being affected as much as the others and it is clear that he wouldn't be, and only slightly...but he literally hallucinates Scorpius. We're left with the question...is Crichton truly okay? Also it underlines many of the characters insecurities.

It is also hilariously funny. I was laughing my head off at certain points.
