Pick your favorite tv show or book poll. Note - I deliberately left off choices such as "both" or "neither" - because I want to know which one people would pick if pressed. Granted, you probably haven't read or seen half of these - but that would make the choice easier, right?

The problem with posting polls - is as fun as they are, you really never know if anyone will respond. And if they do - how they will respond. It's a huge risk on the part of the poster, hence the reason I don't do them that often. But been thinking about this lately and wondering where folks fall - do people like Star Gate better than Farscape? Do they prefer Star Wars to BSG? Are they huge Twilight fans? This is fairly safe to voice your opinion on - because it requires work to figure out who voted and how they voted. And if you have quibbles, by all means complain in the comments.

I ended up making if 15 questions, was originally 13 - but didn't want to tempt fate. Silly, I know.

I just *cannot* choose on the last one. Nope, not able.

Oh, and I don't care about either of Vampire Diaries or the two-ish episodes I saw this past weekend at a hotel of True Blood. Very eh on both.

Some of these were very hard to choose between. Others, not so much. *g*

I didn't answer the Dr. Who questions because I don't watch the series; ditto for Harry Potter & Twilight.

My favorite Companion wasn't female... it was Turlough. How could you not love someone who joined the Doctor with the intent of killing him? And "Enlightenment" (which is the episode where it all comes to a head) remains in my top ten favorites of the show.

Was Farscape really short-lived? It had four full seasons. In total, Farscape aired for 90 episodes--that's a lot. The series as a whole got some serious breathing room. What counts as a long-lived series then? I would think getting to a 4th season would be a sign to me. Even Veronica Mars doesn't seem that short-lived to me with its full three seasons and that's less than Farscape. (Heh, I know I'm quibbling with the description of a short-lived series. Like ANGEL was cancelled before its time, there were still plenty of stories to tell, but I don't think it's short-lived. My take on the word at least.)

I was tempted to say Firefly which was undoubtedly cut short and never really had a chance to realize its potential (the latter being a defining characteristic for me of short-lived), but I went with T:SCC because of my recent rewatch. I just really want to know what would've happened in Season 3. Sigh.

Was Farscape really short-lived?

Yep. It ended on a major cliff-hanger. The writers had plotted out the next two seasons, and even had blocked out a good portion of Season 5. They were planning on shooting S4 and S5 back to back to save money. But, they got cancelled - so had to cram all of it into a 3 hour mini. (And we got that because of the fans - who really pushed for it. They sent DVD's to every network amongst other things.)

But, unlike the other tv series listed - Farscape was the only one with a clear plan and the only one who didn't get any warning. They found out literally after they shot the cliff-hanger for S4.

Sara Connor? He knew about five episodes before the finale.
And while he had a plan - it wasn't that clear and he basically pulled the same deal Whedon did with Angel S5 - Not Fade Away.
I had issues with the ending of Sara Connor and what they did with time travel.

Firefly? Let's just say some of the upcoming episodes make Seeing Red and certain episodes of Dollhouse look like a walk in the park by comparison. It had problems.

Veronica Mars? Veronica Mars as an FBI agent did not work. (Saw the pilot online after it was cancelled.)

I couldn't choose between Vampire Diaries and True Blood (I can't/won't watch either of them), and I had a hard time picking between Sci-fi and fantasy (in TV and movies I prefer Sci-fi... in books I prefer mysteries).

I'm glad to see so many people loving Donna Nobel as much as I do!

I don't watch True Blood, Vampire Diaries or Twilight, so have no opinion on them.
It was very very hard to choose between DS9 and B5.

I prefer science fiction. BTW I'm surprised to see Dexter and Veronica Mars in your list for they are neither sci-fi nor fantasy.

When it was something I have seen versus something I haven't seen (like Twilight or Vampire Diaries) I still answered your poll picking the one I knew.

Yeah, well, took the same liberties with Covert Affairs and Alias...although I guess you could argue that Alias and Nikita are sci-fi? (shrugs).

You answered the poll correctly. Thanks!
