Finished the apartment hunting for today - saw five places, which have all blurred in my head. There were two that looked promising. But nothing I'm in love with - if I could just do this a la carte style, life would be so much easier. Take what I like from apt 1, apt 2, apt 3 and apt 4 - combine it and go with that. But we have a game plan - goal is to start bidding on properties by the end of Jan, move in - in April.

Also bought and read issue 39 of the Buffy comics. Sigh. Do you really want another negative review of this comic? We'll see if I write a review tonight or not. Depends on how much time I have to expend on this. Got to do dinner first.

As you know, I marathoned The Walking Dead this weekend. The series finale is tonight. Just six episodes in length. I disagree with critics, I don't think it is the best new series of the year - that distinction goes to Terry Griffin's Terriers - which has better dialogue, and better characters, also a much tighter and cohesive plot arc. Terriers which doesn't have all the high production value, and gimmickery of a zombie fest, is a brilliant character sketch of two down on their luck private dicks, trying to make life work. It's a human story that skirts cliche and develops well-rounded characters. That said? I enjoyed The Walking Dead and like I've stated previously not a zombie fan. (Only zombie flick I've made it through to date is Shaun of The Dead, although am tempted to rent ZombieLand.) Walking Dead is more of a survival tale than a straight zombie tale - it's about what happens after you fight the zombies, how do you survive in a post-apocalyptic world. And it has an interesting hero in Rick Grimes...who while flawed appears to skirt the protagonist privilege issues that keep popping up in other post-modern hero tales. Granted it's a bit sexist...which is a definite draw back. And a tad slow-moving, hitting on several disaster/horror film drama cliches...but overall, compelling and a lot of fun.

I started watching 'The Walking Dead' today on your recommendation and I'm intregued... but I definitely agree that 'Terriers' is (of the two) by far my favorite.

I will say that I think you should check out ZombieLand (I watched it on cable, it has been showing up on Encore/Bravo), it is very entertaining (funny, not just gross).

I hope you do find a place you can be happy in, your game plan sounds like a good one (and you should have an advantage w/bidding for places during January since there are fewer buyers competing for places in the Winter... ). Good luck!
