Become somewhat addicted to Echo Bazarr - although had to stop echoing it - since it was cluttering up Facebook much to my Facebook family's annoyance (most of them are family members).

Also watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland last night, which I found incredibly boring - like all the other Burton films I've seen since well the first Batman film. Lots of pretty stuff, not a lot of substance. Although at least this one had a positive feminist message that I rather liked.
Just couldn't relate to or get interested in the characters - who felt more like cartoons than characters, which may be more of a flaw in the story Alice in Wonderland than Burton, but...been having this problem with Burton for quite some time.

Tried to get the Spike Comic today after attending a social action in worship discussion at my church, but no such luck. Ain't out yet. I can tell I'm losing interest (in the Spike comic not the discussion at church), because I don't care that much one way or the other.

The discussion was actually more interesting than expected. A lot of time was spent on discussing the tragedy in Tuscon, Arizona yesterday - when a US Congresswoman and several people, including children were shot by a right-wing crazy person. What's coming out of this, besides the fact that people really need to rethink their right to own guns, - is we, specifically people in the media and public eye, need to be a bit more careful with their rhetoric. (Part of me wishes Sara Palin would experience pain on a far more personal level regarding this issue than she has, but that type of thinking is what lead to this in the first place. As one person at church stated - it's very very hard not to hate these people who hate us, back. Glenn Beck who states if your church is about social action - then you are going to the wrong church - infruriates me. Because that's what religion is about. Hello! What do you think Jesus was? He was a social activist, you nitwit. Sigh. This is why I avoid right-wing pundits like Beck and Palin at all costs - I don't need my blood-pressure to sky-rocket. IT's also why I rarely watch the news any more.)

Finished watching Big Bang Theory and Community - identified more with Community actually, not sure what that says about me. I'm on the fence at the moment as to which I should watch regularly. At any rate - let's face it who amongst us has not gone through the whole - "somebody stole my thingie and which one of you was it!" Only to realize no one has said thingie and some mysterious ghost or in this case monkey took it. As for Big Bang's centering it's humor on creating app's for smart phones? Uh..what? (Problem with situational comedies is if you can't identify with the situation or you can (but not in a that way) - it's not going to be funny.)

Community >>>>>>>>>>>> TBBT

For me, at least. And I could've sworn the Spike comic is out because people have been talking about the issue this past week.

Oh, it's definitely out...a friend in California just told me that she picked it up. But it's not available at the comic book store in Brooklyn, NY for some reason. (shrugs).

I'm with you on Tim Burton. The two films he's made that I really like are Ed Wood (which is out of step with the rest of his movies, stylistically) and Sweeney Todd. I haven't seen Edward Scissorhands in years and years, so maybe that will rise in esteem. But I just feel like he makes visually interesting (but unpleasant, usually) worlds with good Danny Elfman scores that are just empty. There isn't much there, there. Or if there is I miss it.

Oh, yes, I'd forgotten, Ed Wood and Sweeny Todd were pretty good as well. The only Burton flicks that worked for me or were memorable were Nightmare Before Xmas, Edward Scissorhands,
Batman, Ed Wood, and Sweeny Todd. He went a bit over the top with the whole world building/setting and forgot to focus on character or plot in the second Batman flick, Sleepy Hollow,
Corspe Bride, Alice, Charlie and the Chocolat Factory, and another one I can't remember the name of.

My brother - who had friends that worked on Nightmare with Burton, has a VERY negative view of the director and artist.
Apparently he's a beast to work for or so I was told. (shrugs)
