Just watched Glee and when did Gwenyth Paltrow's acting slide down-hill? I liked her in Shakespeare in Love, well more or less. Possibly around the same time she decided she was a singer?

The best bits of Glee were the scenes on homosexuality, which are a bit jarring since the rest of the show is pure satire. These weren't. Adored the scene between Kurt and his Dad which jarred against Holly's similar discussions with Santana and Britney.

Musical numbers not that great...mostly because I've come to the conclusion that Gwenyth Paltrow is not that good a singer. I think if I liked her better....but I'm apparently in the minority, since EW always raves about her. And she's a big draw. Which means, we will be seeing a lot more of her. Personally? I preferred Kristen Chenworth - who has a better voice and is a better actress, not to mention prettier, but that's just me.

Also saw House last night - which pulled off a rather unique dream sequence episode. It depicted fairly clearly what is wrong with the Cuddy/House relationship and why it can't last. Also why House can't have a sustainable relationship with anyone. He puts himself first. And will do just about anything to hide from or avoid or anethesize pain. Fascinating character study. Also shows why Wilson can't not be friends with House - Wilson's need to take care people, save them, inadvertently enabling in the process - is classic codependency. Sherlock Holmes had similar issues.

Spending more time reading and writing lately than watching tv. Not sure why. DVR is filled up to 50% capacity. I should watch my backlog of Being Human, Supernatural, Nikita, and Smallville episodes at some point. Although did make headway with Justified - which continues to be tightly written and brilliant on all counts. The Good Wife may be my favorite tv show, but Justified is the best written. Also Tim Olyphant is simply put, hot. Also loving Walter Coggins - who plays Raylin's old friend Crowder. Wish there were some stronger and more interesting female characters - although Mags (the new villain), Jools (the black female marshal), and Ava show promise.

Kurt's Dad was far and away the best part of the episode. He's awesome.

Brittany had some good lines.

The only part of Gwyneth's part that really worked for me was her reaction to what's-her-name being married to John Stamos and not having sex with him.

Hee. Agree. The Britney/Santana bit and the Dad/Kurt bit were the best.

I was blown away by House last night, it was both really dramatic and hilarious... and I thought the dream sequences were full of surprises and brilliance (Hugh Laurie must have had so much fun filming that episode!!).

And although I agree that most of Glee tonight was not good, never the less I want to save and rewatch the scene between Kurt and his Dad, that was moving and meaningful... and not at all 'after school special'. I have been very impressed with the way this show has handled teen-age homosexuality.

Big Happy Birthday tomorrow (probably today when you are reading this?)! I hope it is a great one!

No, still March 8th.

Agreed. The scene between Kurt and his Dad was truly awesome. The show oddly depicts homosexual relationships as the most meaningful and normal, while the heterosexual relationships are a satirical mess. Fascinating.

House...blew me away as well, particularly the musical number - possibly the most effective use of a musical number in a dramatic series since well Buffy.
