Relief efforts in Brooklyn are moving. The outpouring of help for the hurricane victims is astounding.

Besides getting sick last night, I managed to watch Once Upon a Time. I skipped Revenge until this morning because I wanted to get to bed early (little good it did me, but at least I tried.)

I'm thinking I should stick with my gut instinct on this series and stop reading others predictions, speculations. I've been right and they've been wrong. Was right about Doctor Whale. And I now appear to be right about the guy shown in the opening episode of the season, played by the wonderful Michael Raymond-James - who played Renee on True Blood, and the other half of the pairing on Terriers. I adore this character actor, one of the best on tv. Now if only we had a better cast of female actors..note to writers stop going for the "pretty". Sarah Bolger doesn't appear to be able to act, and Ginnfer Goodwin is not a lot better. And don't get me started on Jamie Chung. Jennifer Morrison appears to be trying to carry the bulk of it on her skinny and weak shoulders. Morrison and Goodwin are the only ones of that grouping that appear to be able to act. And that's saying something.

They had similar problems with LOST. The male actors with two or three exceptions were far better than the female ones, who appeared to be hired for looks.

That said, rather enjoyed last night's episode. Also like where this story is going.

* So in this episode we find out who the guy that received the Storybrook post-card is, and more importantly exactly who sent it to him, why, and who he is connected to in Storybrook.

But, there were a few other clues in the episode as to who Neil Cassaday is. Once again the writers are playing with names, which is similar to what they did in LOST. Neal Cassaday is Jack Kerovac's friend in his novel On The Road, and also one of the main characters of the beat generation featured in Ken Kesey's The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. A hero of a lot of male writers of a certain generation, aka Generation X.

Also prior to this episode, we saw a drawing of Rumple's son Baelfire - who was wearing a hoodie, emphasis on the hoodie. The first time Emma sees Neil, he's wearing a "hoodie" and in almost same way. He's also a thief, an accomplished thief.

Another clue? The references to Neverland. Rumple's questions about Neverland. Captain Hook fleeing to Neverland. Hook mentioning that Emma must obviously be a Lost Child or Orphan, because she has that look - as does Neil, who is a Lost Boy. Also notably the magic bean that Hook had took him to Neverland, it's more than possible that Baelfire's took him to Neverland as well, and it wasn't until later than he got to our reality or the reality with Storybrook in it.

When August (aka Pinnochio) approaches Neal, he mentions magic and Neal doesn't dismiss it right off the bat. He even looks at what August shows him, listens to August's tale and does what August requests - with two caveats- 1) August give Emma the money and the car (August only gives her the car, boy that man deserves to be wooden again), 2) August send him a post-card once the curse is broken and Emma succeeds in her quest. (He does do that). 3) It is clear Pinnochio has information on Rumple - which he had to have gotten from Baelfire - which means August may know where Bae is or be connected to him in some way. 4)

These clues lead me to believe that Neal Cassaday is a)Rumplestilskin's lost kid, and b) Peter Pan or a Lost Boy from Neverland. Which means he's connected to Captain Hook as well. And it would be the height of irony if a romance develops between Emma and Hook, and Cassaday has to find a way to win her back. Particularly since Rumple indirectly caused all of it to happen.

While I'm not sure if Neal/Baelfire = Peter Pan, I'm pretty sure he is the missing Bae (who disappeared from Rumple's side through the "blue fairy"'s portal at the age of 14 - which would also explain the reluctance to go to Storybrook - after Emma. Keep in mind he does not know that Emma was pregnant or had his child.

* The Red Room nightmare...sounds familiar, but mind is too foggy to place it. Flames, eyes, a room - Twin Peaks? It reminds me of Twin Peaks with the red curtains and the eyes, and everyone having the same bizarre dream. Baelfire and Cora may both factor in this dream - since it involves flames and red room. Baelfire - mean fatal or evil fire.

* Jack is apparently dead, although there's a possibility he's not and someone took his sword.
The humans killed the Giants (a reference to the up-coming Jack and the BeanStalk film, I'm guessing) in a war, where the Giants were not necessarily the villains. Emma makes a deal with the Giant, getting both the compass and saving Hook's life - but she handcuffs him, imprisoning him in the Giant's world - in the hopes of getting a head-start. She doesn't trust Hook because of what happened with Henry's Dad, Neal Cassaday. (August, Emma's alleged Guardian Angel, seems to be more of a curse or thorn in her side. Gepetto did her no favors selfishly sending his son instead of her mother with her.)

* August much like Pinnochio in the stories is fairly selfishly motivated and can't quite stay on course. His redemption if it comes, isn't here yet.

* They need to develop Sleeping Beauty/Aurora and Mulan a bit more - both characters are incredibly grating at the moment. I already miss Hook. Sarah Bolger may be a good actress, but I can't tell.

I need to import icons for DW, I have hardly any appropriate ones.

This does seem to be where things are heading - the parallels between Hook/Cassidy and Swan/Peter Pan were really interesting (down even to Emma securing/wounding Hook by his hand - even though in this Universe, Rumple is the one who chopped off his hand to begin with Hook/hands still seems to be important) ... it also seems to be important that Emma "saved" Hook from being buried alive, only to chain him up (which is why I might be obsessed that she chained him by the hand - took his hand, offered alliance, and then used that trust to bind him) ....

August is the worst, isn't he?

As much as I'd love for Cassidy to find his way to Storybrook and find Henry! and battle with Charming! and be interesting! The idea of Charming trolling all over Cassidy just kind of squicks me. I'd rather have Cassidy/Regina interaction. The Storybrook/Charming/Henry plotline just tires me - and I don't see Cassidy's entrance making it any easier to swallow.

This has been a rambling comment.

I hope you're feeling better! ((hugs))

Feeling much better, thanks. Although still struggling with the regulation of the heat in my building. This seems to be an on-going battle. LOL!

The problem with Charming/Henry is well Henry, who is not a good actor.
But, Cassidy/Henry would be interesting if only for the parallel between Cassidy/Rumple, also we have Charming/Henry and Charming/(no-father or father dead). So there's nice parallels there.

Michael Raymond-James is a great choice and a good actor, so I have hope.
