Cranky, in part because I'm exhausted from last week, and the frigging weekend, which was stressful. For a Tropical Storm, Irene caused over 10 billion dollars worth in damage. Lots of people at work are without power and several without running water. Also only half the people were even able to come to work today - train service was severely limited. Two site tours this week were canceled because of the storm. Landlord, who recently moved to Jersey, has no running water, no power, is trapped because no transportation, and the hurricane apparently created an indoor swimming pool - I hope in his basement. Feel sorry for him, he has two toddlers and he just bought that house a year ago. Half of Staten Island is under water. But most people were okay...and lived in areas like mine, which were thankfully unaffected.

Went to work today. Yes, mass transit was up and running. With limited service on certain trains and routes. The subways were mostly on time in my area, but the LIRR was running about 45 minutes late. And doing a horrid job with their announcements. I got on the 7:29 train going to Jamaica at 7:15, looked at my watch and realized it was 7:41 and the train hadn't left yet. Then an announcement came online - that the train I wanted to be on was the 7:41 train on Track 4, so everyone jumped off the 7:29 and ran, literally ran to the 7:41, being told it was the last call for that train. Did that train leave the station first? Of course not. At 8am, we watched the 7:29 train that we had just vacated leave the station. Our train didn't leave until 20 minutes later. Annoying as hell. But all things considered, not as bad as anticipated. So kudos to MTA for getting service back online as quickly as possible. Well done.

Very sore and crampy from doing all that racing around and carting stuff to my apartment on Friday and Saturday. Shoulders, arms, thighs, and back ache like the devil. Lugging 20-40 pounds ten blocks and up three flights does take its toll. I don't need to do weight-lifting at the gym, I can just go shopping. Speaking of, should probably take my semi-annual shopping trip to Lord and Taylor and jazz up the ward-robe again, really don't want to for two reasons 1) I hate shopping (unless it is for books, DVDs or CDs), 2) I'm fat, which granted does aggravate number one a bit. It is what it is.

Watched True Blood last night, don't have a lot to say about it. What I do have to say is spoilerish...so behind the cut:

* Thank ghod they finally killed off Tommy Minskes. YAY! For a moment there I was afraid he'd pull through. But Alicide stopped Sam from getting vamp blood to save him. Thank you, Alcide.
Will state, was that the longest death scene or what? I kept saying - die already! Seriously, how long does it have to take? It was also a bit on the gross side, although I suppose it could have been a lot worse...I was half-afraid he'd die partially shifted or something icky like that. Good thing they don't have the budget to pull that off. Or maybe they do and they just lack my imagination? In which case, still thankful.

* Poor Eric. He's basically no better off than he was prior to the loss of memory, except now he knows Sookie loves him, but she still, for no apparent reason that I can see, prefers Vampire Bill. Bill was repulsive as human, why she loves him I've no clue. Neither does Sookie apparently, she tells Eric she thinks she loves Eric and Bill because she shared their blood and may just be chemical. If that's the case? Maybe it's mutual - because that would certainly explain a lot.

*Poor Pam. When Sookie undid Eric's spell, did she break Pam's too? Because I was more worried about Pam's to be honest. Or is Pam going to die next episode? I hope not. I like Pam.

*Poor Jessica. Jason is blaming himself for sleeping with her, as if she didn't have a say in the matter. Takes two to tango, Jason. And he's also refusing to do it again or have a relationship because of Hoyt. Not giving Jess any say in the manner. Apparently the bro-romance with Hoyt takes precedence...Awwww.

* Poor Jason. Marnie/Antonia blinked everyone but Jason back into the Emporium. So, the question remains did Jason at least stick around to warn Eric and Bill that Sookie was inside the Emporium they were planning on blowing up? Or did he vamoose to drink more beer and bond with whingy Hoyt?

* So now Sookie, Lafayette and Jesus are all inside the Emporium. Not exactly by design. Tara and Holly just about got themselves out with a lot of hard work too, when Marnie blinked them back in again. (I don't quite understand Marni - how does keeping Tara and Holly and the other unwilling wicca's hostage help rid the world of vampires? Unless you need their mojo, but if the spirit is unwilling...okay, granted it's a soap opera, it is not supposed to make sense.) I feel really sorry for Tara. Although kudos to Sookie for finally putting Tara before the vamps, and trying to rescue her before Bill blows the place to smithereens. Bill won't personally kill Tara with his own bare hands, but he has no problems killing her if she happens to be in the same place as the necromancer. (I like the Tara/Sookie frienship...or rather liked it, before Sookie decided Bill (and then Eric) was more important than well anything on the planet.)

* The Sam storyline does not mesh with the other storylines...it's sort of hanging out there in left field like last season. Except for one thing, Alcide and Sam appear to be bonding over a mutual code. They may bond further over the fact that Packmaster is messing with both of their women. Although if I were Sam - I'd be happy this guy moved on to Skank!Debbie. Alcide has the worst taste in women.

*Neither does the Terry/Arlene/Andy Bellfluer storyline - although I oddly like it and it fits soap operas. Chris Bauer is an excellent actor - having seen him in two completely different roles...he is unrecognizable. The Terry/Andy show-down was sort of amusing.

I'm guessing those latter two storylines are going to be featured more next season. Or set-up.

*Not so sure I'd want to get rid of Nan quite yet, you don't know who might replace her. She does look a lot like Pam, was having troubles telling the actresses apart for a bit there.

Okay off to make dinner.

Nan amuses the hell out of me, so as far as I'm concerned she can stay.

She is rather funny. But I think she's going to be killed off...
her and Pam. I hope not. I find her amusing, and I love her banter with Bill.

I adore the Bill/Nan bickering, they are often the best part of an episode.

And you're right about the Terry, etc. and Sam storylines.

Nan/Jessica/Pam and Eric save Bill's character. He'd be deadly dull and even more grating if it weren't for them.

I enjoyed the ep enormously, apart from the Tommy death scene, which  God, I'm so glad to see the last of the Mickenses, and even Tommy saying that his horrible relationship with Sam was the best thing that ever happened to him didn't make me feel sorry for him. Good riddance.

Totally agree. Sam/Alcide - I sort of like together.
The only good thing Tommy did was jump-start that pairing.

Unlike Connor...I could never feel much for Tommy, outside of annoyance. The character was so poorly written, so stereotypical and cliche, not to mention whiny. Was more than happy to see the end of him.
