shadowkatFinished the next round of Fringe viewing. They manage to conclude the John Scott arc just before starting the real arc of the series. The John Scott was somewhat cliche and up until the episode Ability - Fringe has more or less the same formulaic approach as Body of Proof, House and so many others in this genre, melded with the X-Files. Olivia forming a connection with her sister and niece, the Olivia/Peter relationship building steam, and a clear indication that Peter has a crush on Olivia, but Olivia is blissfully unaware of it. We also see more and more allusions to something not quite right between Peter and Walter, Walter did something in the past...in regards to Peter, either to save him or...that has resulted in well a ripple affect. Or at least that's the hint.
At any rate...the episode that sets this arc into motion, is not exactly Ability, even though it appears to be. It's actually Where We Meet Mr. Jones. A rather innocuous episode with a lot of important back story. I'd say start there and skip the episodes leading up to it, but if you do that - you'll be completely lost in regards to the John Scott back-story/arc which sort of dovetails into it.
The science is...well gross still. It entails bits that bother me, like parasites, viruses that turn people into monsters, all sorts of nice stuff. At least so far we've avoided the spiders, X-Files had a thing for arachnids, which is yet another reason I was not much of a fan of that series. My brother warned me off of at least two episodes. (I hope I didn't jinx myself when I said that. Sooner or later all horror series seem to have spiders...even Buffy. It's annoying.)
I'm hoping we'll eventually move away from the forensic science case of the week - but having watched one episode last season (which dealt with gravity shoes) - I somehow doubt it. If the back story weren't thrilling me and I didn't love the characters, which I do right now - I'd give up.
