I've come to the conclusion that Mark of Mark Watches/Reads - doesn't have a job outside of blogging, and only watches and read and blogs about things that have huge online fanbases. Or is multiple people with a very deft writing style. OR a computer program. At any rate they/he/it are genius marketers - they know their nitch (fandoms), how their nitch audience thinks and talks, they know how to sell it, and they know how to make money off of it (or did you not notice the products you can buy?) Very clever. You have to appreciate the marketing savvy. Heck, the CAPS? The netspeak? And it never varies. The style is consistent throughout. You have to admire the effort involved. This is not spontaneous blogging people. There's thought behind it, a business plan, and a lot of work. Can't help but wonder how much money he's making? I know some blogs can bring in about $1,000- $2,000 a week. That's before taxes, I hope. Quite lucrative biz, if you can get a huge readership, attract advertisers, or do cross-marketing/product placement.

This was after scanning his reviews of multiple things, including the GRRM books. But he does, however, underline the reason I gave up on Feast of Crows and launched into a two month romance novel reading binge, written by female writers:

I am exhausted by the in-universe rape/misogyny. Given that the bulk of this book is from the perspective of women (WHICH IS REALLY QUITE COMMENDABLE FOR HIGH FANTASY), it’s become a game of mine to see if I can go five pages in a chapter narrated by a woman and see if I can’t find a reference to rape, sexual violence, or women knowing their place. Look, George R.R. Martin, I GET IT. You have made the reality of this fictional universe quite apparent to me. PLEASE STOP REMINDING ME EVERY FIVE PAGES. Not only is it quite distracting, but it’s unpleasant in a way that is drastically off-putting.

Yep, pretty much.

I have to admit to having skimmed significant chunks of A Feast with Crows. I did however enjoy "A Dance with Dragons" more.

Good to know. Probably helped that the pov's in DwD are a tad more heroic.

Didn't you get a bit lost skimming? I tried to skim, then something would happen, and I'd think okay, what just happened and have to go back and figure it out. GRRM hides stuff in that massive description, damn him.

Poor Mark is about to have a very bad week

At least if the emotion in his posts is genuine. He seems so emotionally attached to Bangel and Ginny, but he's scheduled for Innocence on Wed. and Passion next Monday.

Kind of like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. I can't wait until he sees Passion.
The poor boy is in for a world of pain.
