From Jezebel:

It costs anywhere between 2,446 to 4,662 to own a vagina

Wonder how much it costs to own a penis? I looked it up and all I could find was penis enlargement costs. Apparently there's a big demand for this - because 90% of the spam I get is penis enlargement. My known spam is email from lj (I've tried to switch this to regular email but nothing I do seems to work) and penis enlargement ads (really wish they'd stop sending...seriously I'm obviously female by my email address.)

Curious...what's the British and Canadian Health Care Policies regarding Women's Health?
Do they cover the costs better than the US? Is contraceptives covered? How about other countries? Sweden? Russia? New Zealand? China? Romania? What is the cost of being female around the world?

Pretty much covered. Health care here isn't completely free (anymore), but it's capped at roughly $130 per year for treatment (yes, that includes major non-elective surgery) and $330 for medication. No specific limitations when it comes to abortions, mamograms etc that I know of. HPV vaccine is available, and would be available for free to all girls if not for a colossal bureaucratic screwup.

Holy crap. ONE doctor's appointment this year cost me $240, and that was with insurance. That didn't include tests, that was just talking to the doctor.

I generally like living in the US, but sometimes I really, really want to move abroad, especially because I just don't see our health care getting fixed anytime soon.

That's insane. My sisinlaw had to go out of network to get a migraine remedy - they'd discovered she had a magnesium deficiency and couldn't manage to absorb it naturally. So she had to pay $700 out of her pocket for the shot. Insurance wouldn't cover.

The health insurance situation in the US is out of control.
