Apr. 23rd, 2012 10:42 pm1. A Religious Zealot, an Athesist and an Agnostic walk into a bar:
Zealot: God exists! You will go to hell when you die if you do not believe! Specifically in the one true god-
Atheist: You're wrong! God does not exist! Your belief is the same as hope...you need it to feel better about yourself and the world. You are deluded. But if you accepted the truth and saw the light, you would see the world as it truly is and reach true enlightenment. And be truly wise!
Agnostic: How can you guys tell one way or the other? There's really no empirical proof. Seriously you can argue both sides. True enlightenment comes from admitting you don't know.
Bar-tender: Actually I always thought true enlightenment came from beer. But keep it up, and we'll see if you guys live out the week.
2. Everyone should read this article: You are not watching the same shows you're friends are and that's okay".
3. Figured out who August Booth is on Once Upon a Time, and have a theory on who Henry's Dad may be, which I think is more than possible. And no...they aren't one and the same, totally different people.
* August Booth is Pinocchio
* Rumplestilskin's son is Henry's Dad - this is just a theory, I could be wrong of course.
But after this episode...it made sense. The son is the reason Rumple created the curse - he had to get to the real world. The son is also the reason he wants Emma to break the curse - because until she does, everyone in Storybrook is stuck in Storybrook and he can't find his son. But since the son came to the real world long before he created the curse,
and time moves differently...anyhow just a theory.
4. Game of Thrones reminded me this week why I wasn't fond of the certain aspects of the books and had troubles with Clash of Kings...not an episode I liked that much.
Last week's was a lot better.
Also if you got a bit lost? I feel your pain, felt the same way in the books. Too many frigging characters - Martin, seriously. And half of them look alike.
That said the Tyrion scenes were really good. That actor delivers.
* Tywin Lannister played by Charles Dance is equally good. And oddly I see the resemblance between him and Tyrion more than his other children. Both stroll into a torture scenario and stop it. Telling the torturers that they are idiots. His interaction with Ayra was
perfect.
* Sansa is a lot taller than Tyrion...hadn't realized how much taller. Well everyone is, but she really looked tall next to him. I'd love to see Brienne and Tyrion interact.
* Littlefinger and Catelynne's scene was quite good. Go Catelynne.
* Melisandre is creepy. As was the delivery of the smoke-man.
* Joffrey is even more sadistic than I remembered. Thank god he's not on screen that often.
* Go Dany! I love Dany and Jorah. Seriously shipping Jorah right now. Which is odd because I don't remember liking him at all in the books.
* One thing from the books, not a spoiler, is that yes...Ayra seems to be the stinking hole that is Harrenhall forever, as Dany appears to be stuck in the desert (thankfully they cut that bit short - in the book it was a lot longer.)
5. Mad Men - Brilliant Sunday. No time to discuss. But it seriously is the best written show on at the moment, even better than Game of Thrones and The Good Wife, which requires effort. I am in love with Roger. Peggy Rocks. Meghan - Go Meghan! Don..you are a self-centered ass. And whoa...apparently Born Free was released in 1966...I could have sworn it was released in the 1970s. At least, I remember seeing it in the 1970s.
Have to get up at 5 tomorrow, to get to work, have marathon presentations - four hours worth to supervise. Ugh. So off to bed.
