TV Meme and other stuff
Apr. 18th, 2013 09:18 pmAh, I'm getting email notifications again. Also feeling better pain-wise today. The shot worked. As did the therapy. And now, I have oxy-codeine/acetampheine, in case I have severe pain. Yay me.
Co-worker came by today to ask about Supernatural - I explained it to him. Apparently he'd caught a recent episode. Decided after my quick run-down, not for him. I truly am a tv culture geek. It's embarrassing how much I know about this medium. Co-worker adores Grimm (sorry no strong female characters who are leads, so I have the same issues with it as Supernatural long-term. I'm willing to make allowances if the writing is fantastic, and its just not on Grimm ( ie: Justified or Breaking Bad quality). Also it's too late to get into it without renting and I just am watching far too many tv shows as it is. In case you do not believe me, I'm about to give you a list. Or at least a list of the one's I remember. You know it's too many when you can't remember half of them.
TV Meme:
1. TV Shows I adore - or rather I watch and rewind, and have me riveted. These are also usually the only one's I'll bother to write meta on or discuss online in any way. Although not always. These are my must see shows - and the one's I'll watch on demand if I miss or be really really annoyed. ie - they are my addictions and I watch them every week and look forward to them.
* Once Upon A Time
* The Good Wife
* Game of Thrones ( I actually subscribed to HBO for it.)
* Revenge (although that may end soon)
* Vampire Dairies
* Justified
* Breaking Bad
* True Blood (it's hit and miss, but I do love it at times.)
* Doctor Who
* Merlin
* Mad Men (although that also may end soon...it's slow again)
* The Walking Dead (it used to be in category 2 actually, but it surprised me this year)
* Arrow ( I do post about it from time to time like others on this list, but I tend to not watch it live or as it airs.)
2. TV shows I like and do watch, and make a point of watching...but don't tend to discuss online:
* Grey's Anatomy
* General Hospital (often watch while making dinner or surfing the net, although lately it's been delightfully wonky in places and aggravating in others - sort of par for the course for soap operas.)
* Elementary
* Nashville
* Smash
* Glee (it waxes and wanes...and I keep thinking of cancelling it, frankly. Great musical numbers at time, annoying story.)
* Copper
* Dexter
* Dallas
* Big Bang Theory
* Bunheads
* Parenthood
* Covert Affairs
* Call the Midwife
* Dowton Abbey
* Sherlock
3. TV shows that are taking up space on my DVR but I hope to get to and I occasionally delete when I realize I never will:
* Parade's End
* Red Widow
* Defiance
* Louis CK (which I may delete entirely since he's beginning to get on my nerves, this happens to me a lot with American sitcoms, not so much British ones)
* Community (ditto)
* Subgartory (ditto)
* Hannibal
* Revolution
* Orphan Black
* The Americans (I tried and deleted)
Eh, it's late. I'm stopping now. Still plugging through A Dance With Dragons - about 25% of the way through now and I finally understand the point of the Tyrion chapters which finally got interesting. As are the Dany chapters. Wish I could say the same about Jon and Davos. Also GRRM is either a frustrated chef or a frustrated war historian, can't figure out which. The man is obsessed with two things: 1) food, and 2) battle strategy/war history.
There's very little sex in these books - it's referred to, but obliquely. GRRM really isn't into sex. He'd rather plot out character's lineage. Well that and torture scenes. The man is definitely a horror writer. Reminiscent of Stephen King. Not surprising that King now adores him.
