Jun. 19th, 2013 08:49 pm1. I'm enjoying True Blood more than the critics and everyone else is apparently. I actually liked last year better than the previous years, and this episode better. In part because I'm really NOT a Bill fan, so the direction they've taken with the character works for me - it is more or less how I saw him. And, well, I adore the introduction of Rutger Hauer - he's in some respects playing a much much older version of the character he portrayed in the film version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or at least as far as I can tell.
I'm admittedly a Rutger Hauer fan - yes, I've watched all of his B movies including The Osterman Weekend and Flesh and Blood, I think it was called Flesh and Blood, it's been a while. And my favorite Hauer films are: 1) Ladyhawk, 2) Blade Runner, 3) Nighthawks, and 4) The Hitcher. He plays the villain in the last three films.
The other reason I love True Blood in the later seasons is what they've done in regards to Tara and Pam, who have become wickedly cool.
2. Mad Men is good, but can Don Draper be any more of a misogynistic ass? He's a nasty piece of work this season. I feel sorry for his wife. Morale? Don't marry pretty men or women for that matter. Everyone else, on the other hand, is rather interesting.
I'm still way behind. Currently on the episode where Joan is taken to the hospital and Peggy has moved back to Draper, Sterling, Campbell, Price - because they merged with the firm she was head copy editor at.
In this episode Don asks the woman he's sleeping with (the actress who was on Freaks & Geeks and ER) to basically be his sex slave. I'm wondering if Matt Weiner read 50 Shades of Grey during the summer? He tells her to stay in bed all day naked and wait for him. He buys her a beautiful red dress to wear but just for him. And tells her that she should live only to please him and only to need him. While he's doing all this, it's hard not to remember that he slut-shammed Megan two episodes back - when he watched her do a fake sex scene for a soap opera. Telling Megan that kissing guys for a tv show was similar to prostitution. Then he turns around and has sex with her next door neighbor.
I so want him to get caught. And have Megan take him for all he's worth.

Date: 2013-06-21 12:41 am (UTC)When I only took it once a day it was fine. Also I was eating too much salt - chips, salt on eggs, etc. When I limited the salt intake and reduced naproxen to once a day, at night, with food and plenty of water (which is what the pharmacy suggested strongly) - I'm fine.
You just have to be careful - but that's true of all meds. ;-)
Regarding deliveries? More often than you'd think - two today, will deal with two tomorrow most likely. Since have to do laundry.
Also, I have to get up to fix meals, go to the bathroom, go to bed, ...it's not like I'm confined to bed. ;-)
I honestly could not tell him yes or no. I would rather they kill him than do what she did to him in the last book, but he is a big reason I kept watching,
What did Harris do to Eric in the books? I stopped before that point.
The books have horrifically bad dialogue. It's beyond stupid. I honestly don't know how people stuck with them past the fifth. The second book - Club Dead, and Dead in Dallas are good, all the others...not worth the effort.
I read somewhere that in the last two books - Harris decided to break up Eric and Sookie and put her with Sam.
The werewolf thing leaves me bored and I though the were-panther thing was ridiculous. I don't mind the faeries and I like some of the comic relief, so I guess we will see what this season brings.
Agreed. I'm admittedly not a fan of werewolves. Prefer zombies and considering I'm not a fan of zombies that is saying something. I found Sam who shifts into all sorts of creatures sort of interesting, but he has the worst arcs. Werewolves bore me, I find them silly and sort of limiting. The only tv series that did them half well was Being Human.
