Finished watching Vampire Diaries on Ipad again. Because apparently my DVR won't tape if I'm taping two shows and watching a third one at the same time - particularly if I keep fast-forwarding and rewinding during my watching of it.

Good to know.

Watching on the IPAD is painful because of the numerable commercial interruptions. I'm thisclose to deleting Arrow from my DVR and not watching it - because I was tortured with the exact same commercial repeated three times every 15-20 minutes. Augh. You can't fast-forward on the IPAD. I'm beginning to think the Kindle Fire may be a better bet or the Window's Surface...because KEYBOARD. Can't afford either right now of course.

I have one major non-spoilery quibble about Vampire Diaries, which is also weirdly a quibble about The Crazy Ones.

Dear writers? What's with the unfunny jokes about gluten intolerance? Is the pizza and whole grains lobby really that powerful in Hollywood? WTF? It's like someone making fun of diabetes or lactose intolerance.

Okay, as an aside? Nina Dobrev is doing a better job of playing the multiple dopplegangers than Stefan. And how does one spell doppleganger anyhow? You know what this show makes me miss? The Buffy episode Dopplegangland - which was actually the best use of a doppleganger that I've seen. Ah, Buffy, how I miss you.

So now, as if it's not confusing enough with Katherine and Elena, add an insane Amora to the mix. Apparently being imprisoned for 2000 years has driven Amora insane and she wants to die.
Drinking the cure from Silas, did not help. So Katherine, Silas, and now Amora have been cured of vampirism. Also Katherine is dying. Wonder if Silas is too. Does the cure eventually kill you?

What happened to Nadia? She appears to have vanished.

Tessa lost me after the gluten-free crack. No love. Die. Die. Also, I find her annoying. The least interesting of Vamp Diaries villains. None of the new characters are that appealing this is a problem.

OTOH...the whole bit with Katherine/Caroline and Dr. Westlake was somewhat interesting. And rather funny in places. Although why Katherine thinks she's dying just because she lost a tooth, I don't know. One strand of gray hair and losing one tooth? Seriously, she's been through worse.

Stefan decided to help Elena escape, by backstabbing Tessa (literally). Bad Stefan. Particularly after she helped you and everything.

Except I think he helped Elena because of what she said about Damon...finally putting another person's life ahead of his own and her's. Because that statement motivated him.
Nothing before it.

Now Tessa, being the vindicative witch that she is, decided to give Stefan all his painful memories back at the same time. Bad Tessa. Although it does sort of serve Stefan right.

Damon was going to kill Silas and all, but Silas found the anchor first...couldn't destroy it though since it happens to be Amora. Crafty. A somewhat crazy Amora. Who upon learning that Silas took the cure to join her (because Tessa convinced him that she was dead), decided to knife him in the throat and drink it from him by force. So, I guess Amorra killed Silas? So much for his plans to spend eternity with her. Right now - she just sees him as her way out.

Loved Damon's line to Silas regarding fate and one true love: "I hate to break this to you. But you are the one moving heaven and earth to be with Amorra, regardless of who gets hurt or what happens. That's not fate. That's you being a crazy-ass bastard."

I honestly think the writers are ripping huge holes in the Stefan/Elena fated one true love bit. It's not even subtle any longer. It's obvious. Television writers have serious issues with the whole star-crossed one true love romance, don't they?

And when she sees - Elena, a copy of herself staring down at her, she screams. Honey, just wait until you meet Katherine. (By the way watching Vamp Diaries gave me a whole new appreciation for Orphan Black and the actress who plays the lead in that series.)

This is a fun show, although...I think it may be on its last legs. The Stefan/Elena/Damon story has been stretched a bit thin.

Question to folks still watching The Walking Dead - is this worth watching or should I just delete from the old DVR?

I'd recommend the Roku mostly because it isn't affected by doing anything else online at the same time. I used to stream via my Sony Blu-ray player but if I happened to have something downloading on my laptop at the same time, the show wouldn't load and sometimes take literally hours before it would stream again. Also, for some reason, on particularly busy hours of day or days of the week, Netflix wouldn't load...so, most evenings, and all of most weekends, but the Roku has had none of these problems. I can have both computers downloading, be streaming something on my phone while my partner watches something streaming on the TV, no matter what time of day, whenever, and it has always played smoothly. Don't necessarily know that this isn't just an issue I had with that particular model, or if there isn't a just-as-good other media player, but that's the experience I had with that Blu-ray player vs. the Roku.
