1. Another shameless plug: The The January Talking Meme is up and running. Over half of the month is still available. (Although to be honest, I won't mind all that much if you don't fill it up.)
If there is anything that you are wildly curious or just mildly curious about - here's your chance. If you are like me and drawing a blank: Topics can range from world religions, mythology, various television series (Buffy, Doctor Who, OUAT, BSG, Lost, Vamp Diaries, Arrow, The Good Wife, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Grey's Anatomy, Whedon vs. Shondra Rimes, comic books, etc), books, poetry, cats, siblings, fandom, music (the Who vs. the Rolling Stones vs. The Beatles), letters vs. the internet...to just about anything really. This is a clever little meme.

(Which reminds me, I need to go through my flist and pick topics for their memes. Coming up with a topic for someone else to discuss is not as easy as it looks. That's a challenge in of itself. Which makes this meme fascinating.)

2. 2013. This was a roller-coaster of a year for me.

December - May: Diagnosed with a herniated disc, arthritis in the spine, broken foot, sciatic down the leg, bursitis, tendenitis in the knee, and leaky gut

May - November: Healed the foot, the sciatic nerve, the bursitis, the tendenitis. Re-learned how to walk in order to avoid doing it again.

August - December: Went on Paleo Diet in order to heal leaky gut and regain control over hormones.

September- December: Lost 46 pounds since August, this was after I'd regained the 15 pounds that I lost the previous year. (I'm now approximately 1o pounds away from my preferred weight).

December: Obtained a long over-due promotion, which came with a much needed raise

Now: Healthiest I've been in four years. Those hormonal fluctuations that were driving me bonkers appear to be a thing of the past. Diet - it's all about the diet. And the Paleo Diet I've embarked on has become a literal life saver.

Can't remember most of the books that I've read. Frankly, they weren't all that memorable. Mostly chocolate for the brain - to replace the chocolate that I can no longer eat.
Nor for that matter the movies. Just the recent films - such as American Hustle, Philomena, Nine, Gaslight, and possibly Iron Man 3. TV, I remember a lot better - although admittedly not all of it, there is so much of it after all. The memorable series or the ones worth mentioning are the ones I most likely wrote about:

1. Breaking Bad
2. Once Upon a Time
3. The Good Wife
4. Call the Midwife
5. Justified
6. Game of Thrones

Lost a few people this year...each year comes with unexpected losses. And as you get older, more of them. Some personal, some not. The most shocking, was the sudden and unexpected death of my friend, embers_log, who I'd lost contact with during the summer - due to my illness and her traveling. It's odd to lose a friend who posts online - or an online friend, because - they are still there, sort of. You have their posts. They've left a big footprint behind, not that they don't leave one to begin with...

Happy New Year. Although I'm thinking I'll most likely be posting again tonight.
