Eh...you know things aren't boding well, when they allegedly kill off not one but two of your favorite characters. I state allegedly, because being True Blood - I'm not sure they are actually dead.
Outside of Eric and Tara, the only characters I liked were Pam and Lafayette.
* The jury is still out on Eric - Pam's wandering about hunting him. Last we saw, he was being burned to a crisp in Iceland or the Alps, not sure where it was exactly - just high up, with lots of snowy peaks.
* Lettia Mae swears Tara died in front of her. But that isn't clear either. We see TARA fight a bald-headed vamp. Then later, after all the vamps leave, we see Lettae Mae covered with vamp blood - swearing Tara died in front of her. I'm not sure I believe it. The show would have shown her die on-screen. It smacks of soap opera plot twist.
* Sookie is overwhelmed with the thoughts of all the humans blaming her for everything.
Alcide blames her - and doesn't understand why she loves the undead. (Because she can't hear their thoughts, you big dope. Not the brightest cog on the planet, Alcide. But he's certainly pretty to look at.) Anyhow she takes off and manages to make it home without incident or getting bitten. Kudos. No one else does.
* We spend quite a bit of the episode with Jessica protecting Sheriff Bellefleur's fairy daughter from a crazed vampire.
* And a lot of time on a group of incredibly clueless townspeople who wander about with stakes and guns threatening our heroes. None of which are actual cast-members, and I kept waiting for someone to lose patience and either eat them or kill them. Andy Bellfleur came close, so did Violet (Jason's new girl-friend, he has a new one each season.)
* Oh, we do get snippets in between of Pam hunting Eric, which I'm hoping doesn't turn out to be pointless. Also hoping he's not a crispy critter - I'm betting we see a crispy critter by the fifth episode, which granted is better than dead. Poor Pam, she keeps losing her witty companions. (actually poor audience). Her scenes are at least somewhat entertaining. And we get a little of Jessica's new boyfriend (now played by a more interesting and far better looking actor) and Layfayette smoking weed and waxing philosophically about grief or the lack thereof.
* And there's the five human characters (holly, arlene, Sam's new girlfriend - pregnant, and various nameless characters otherwise known as vamp bait) sitting in the basement of Bon Temps, waiting to be torn asunder by the crazed vampires. (Where are Eric and Pam when you need them? Apparently tooling around Marrakesh, or at least Pam is.) Bill and Sheriff Bellfleur are wandering about hunting the five kidnapped humans - honestly they should have just checked out Bon Temps.
This is not boding well for the season. I missed Tara and Eric. And found Sookie rather irritating.

Date: 2014-06-24 01:12 am (UTC)I never thought I would say this, but I would rather see Sookie with Bill, than Alcide. She and Alcide have zero chemistry and I agree, she was pretty annoying in this episode.
Also, I could care less about all of these new characters. What are they thinking introducing all of them and giving them so much screen time? They have ten episodes...jeez.
Even seeing Jason's naked body was not enough to save this one.;-)

Yep. And it's not helped by the fact that Alicide comes across as a sexist jerk whenever he's around her.
The only characters Sookie had chemistry with were Marlott (last seasons boyfriend), Eric, and Bill.
The writing has really gone down hill.

Date: 2014-06-25 02:18 am (UTC)I have it on good authority - that Tara is actually did. Another poster, shapinglight, apparently read various interviews with Rutina W who portrays Tara, and swears she is dead and at least she went out fighting.
Although - this being a soap, that could be a mislead.

Date: 2014-06-25 02:35 am (UTC)Eh...I lust after Eric the most - he's tall, he's sexy, he's snarky, he has insanely big blue eyes, he can act, and he's blond. What's not to like?
The only one whose appeal is a mystery to me is Bill. Stephen Moyer does nothing for me.

Date: 2014-06-25 02:44 am (UTC)Eric's the only one who has real chemistry with Sookie. Which makes it kind of odd that AP's married to SM. I'm with you -- I don't get the attraction to Bill.
