shadowkat1. Apparently I'm not the only one who didn't enjoy this week's Who all that much and had issues with it.
I didn't hate it. But, I'm admittedly not quite as fannish about the series as others. But I did think it was rather clumsily written.
Hmmm, while hunting down the listing of this season's Doctor Who episodes (hard to do when you have no clue which season this is supposed to be), I stumbled upon an announcement of the NEW DOCTOR or rather who will be replacing Capadali and when it will happen.[ETA: Fake announcement. Just found out it was fake. So never mind.]
Looked up Peter Harness, who co-wrote Pyramid at the End of the World, and yep I don't like his writing. He'd also wrote the Zygon invasion episodes, which I also had issues with. In fact, I think I gave up on Doctor Who during that season in part because of those episodes.
2. Dinner was lovely with U last night. She's very wise. She refuses to discuss or talk about politics at all. With anyone. I'd bring it up. She'd say nothing. Or change the subject. (U voted for Clinton.) Avoids it completely in every way.
3. My crazy church friends on FB are still throwing cats at me. The latest is a poor cat who is depressed after just losing her owner of ten or twelve years. This is getting ridiculous. Although it is rather amusing. My friends on Dreamwidth are trying to talk me out of it, while my friends on FB are trying to guilt me into adopting a cat right this very second. Who knew adopting a cat was such a controversial subject? I blame all those cat videos.

Ha ha. In my own defence, I'm not trying to talk you out of having a cat - I always approve of anyone wanting to have a cat. I just was trying to respond as logically as possible to the question set of how you would go about it. :D

Date: 2017-05-29 01:53 pm (UTC)Hee Hee. You should read some of the responses at the bottom...one guy tells me all the pitfalls of owning a cat, as if I'd never owned one or been with one in my life. (I really should have led with, I owned cats as a child, just not sure how to go about adopting one now...because apparently the concern of where to put the kitty litter threw people off.)
Combined with the FB thread, it's a highly amusing response. One group interpreted the question "how do I go about adopting a cat" as oh, give me a cat, now. The other, which was far more logical actually and made more sense, as - what are the steps and concerns, and how does one go about it.
I actually preferred the Dreamwidth response to the FB response, which...was a bit overwhelming.
The biggest obstacles to adopting a cat right now might be : allergies and time/logistics/cost. When I owned them before, I lived with my parents, and my mother took care of the cost/logistics bit. And logistics is an issue, my brother has had to deal with that...he carted a cat around the country with him.

I am glad I was in the winning group :D Dreamwidth and FB do attract very different styles of talking. Also I guess in each instance the tone was set by whoever replied first and the assumptions they had made.
Allergies? Isn't that a bit insurmountable? You don't want to spend your whole life on meds.
Unless any of these are at the extreme, I am fairly sure that you would find the sacrifice well worth it and never regret it. After all you are talking about a new family member or members, not objects - nobody ever regrets expanding their family :)
(Seemingly I have now moved over into the FB group and am urging cats on you...)

Now, I've no clue. I haven't been around cats since my 20s. I'm 50 now.
And yes, I agree that's an insurmountable one...because meds aren't always doable. Although I know a lot of people who handwave that and get cats anyhow.
[When I was 21, my parents gave my cat away because it was determined that my father was suddenly allergic to cats. He had developed an inner ear imbalance as a result. So...there went my cat. I was in college at the time so had no say in the matter. I was upset. She was my cat, in that she slept with me and hung out with me whenever I was home.]
