May. 27th, 2019 02:37 pm1. Big Bang Theory Finale -- better than expected. Sort of surprising. My biggest take aways from it, was that it was in some respects less sexist than most of the series to date, and instead of Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, or various male centric superhero comics -- the shout out was to...Buffy the Vampire Slayer and in particular to Buffy herself as a cult icon.
And Sheldon's Nobel Peace Prize instead of being shared with the fellas, was shared with his wife, brilliant scientist and collaborator, Amy.
Best line?
Sheldon standing up on the podium, getting the Nobel Peace Prize, then looking at his friends, then seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar sitting next to Raj in the crowd. "Wait, is that Buffy the Vampire Slayer?"
Interesting.
2. Discovery of Witches had a mean cliff-hanger ending. Good thing it's being renewed or I'd be pissed.
3. Laying back and not doing all that much this weekend. Went for a couple of walks, and been doing some writing. Nothing worth reporting on.
4. Hmm...here's the list of top box office films of all time.

And.. Worldwide Box Office Records

Date: 2019-05-27 07:56 pm (UTC)SHELDON: You call those friends? They're leaving us.
AMY: They're leaving because you broke their hearts!
S: I...didn't mean to.
A: You never do! That's the only reason people tolerate you!
S: Even you?
A: Sometimes....yeah.
Sometimes, you can only show how deep the love is if you show how deep the pain is.
In general, I was very happy with the finale. TBH, I wanted Raj to end up with Anu (the hot concierge), but his status as singleton of the group doesn't feel off, either.
Kripke, Stuart and Cinammon got their final bows, and the elevator came back on line in a perfectly timed gag.
I wish we could have had one subplot near the end where Penny rethinks her hard line attitude toward kids, so the announcement here wouldn't have been so jarring--but you can't have everything.
On the biggest stage of his life, Sheldon expresses true humility. That's a great ending.
