Day 294 - Big Mutant Zombie Apocalypse...

When Trump was elected President in 2016 - I wrote, "Does this mean we're going to have a Big Mutant Zombie Apocalypse (that wasn't)" now?
Four years later...
Apparently.
Sigh.
I'm just waiting for the aliens to show up...
Also in 2016..
Cousin's Hubby in Florida, who is a Trump Supporter: Do you think all conservatives are evil?
Me: of course not.
Now?
Uhm, they proved me wrong. Thank you for that. Not.
Also Cousin is divorcing her hubby, who was lying to her. He was telling her that he had two jobs, and was taking care of the kids - while she was working long days - when in reality, he was doing drugs and getting drunk.
The kids were raising themselves. It all came out during the pandemic.
He's now lost his family, his job, and his wife because he gave into his rage and hate and paranoia - which ate him alive.
Moral? Don't give into rage and hate - it destroys everything in its path. Wrath is a deadly sin for a reason. I've watched it destroy people. Turn them into well...mutant zombies...it's not pretty. That's why I took up meditation and am doing loving kindness meditation daily - I won't let that virus infect me.

Mother is doing better. She's sitting around watching the crazy news, and hoping for a room at the rehab facility - preferably with two beds, so my father can join her.
They placed the metal rod in the bone to stabilize it. Doing so, reduced the pain drastically. She's not on a high dose of pain meds - because of blood pressure issues.
Aunt K got in there today and is taking care of my Dad. She's learning a lot from the nurses. It's been a while since she's done geriatric care - so it's a refresher course. But she's had course work in caring for people with Alzheimers and dementia - so knows how to handle it.
I decided to send her flowers to thank her. I was the one who called her and asked her to come up. And she came. And it has reassured my Dad and stablized him, also taken some of the pressure off my Mom.
When you can't do what you would - you do what you can..or something like that.

Talked to Jay today (the boss I adore - I have three). Jay said she'd seen Bridgerton over Christmas and loved it, so after everything that happened yesterday - she started re-watching it to clear head and focus on something else. I watched Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Today and last night I caught up on the news...and oh god. If it were a television show - or political satire, I'd find it funny. But it's not. Another co-worker said he felt like he was watching a sci-fi film.
Jay was upset about it. She said her son, who is a flight attendant, was glad he'd chosen not to fly this week. He'd talked to co-workers who told him that it was a nightmare and they feared for their lives. And it has been a nightmare for months - apparently these people aren't wearing masks, are aggressive and violent, and abusive. Which explains why the Flight Attendant Union has requested that the Trump Supporters be put on the no-fly list.
Jay (a POC - African American) - lives out on Long Island, which is racist.
Me: From what I've heard from Lando and Rick, Long Island is racist.
Jay: I live out there - believe me, I know. It's very racist.
She has a family member who is a Republican and she says, will probably state that it's just a small group - a fringe group, and the Republicans aren't responsible. "But they are," Jay said. "They let this fringe group grow and if they don't do something it will get worse."
I told her it was too late. The time to have done something was back in the 1990s when the Tea Party first came to power. Now? They've destroyed the Republican Party. The Republicans had a window - it was small, but there, in November 2019 and December 2019 - to impeach the President. If they'd done that and handed the Presidency to Pence, they might have saved themselves.
Or passed the stimulus bill in August. There were windows. I kept waiting for them to act, but they didn't.
Now? They'll be lucky if they survive 2021. I honestly think the Republican Party as we know it is dead. There's some things you can't come back from - and this is one of them.
And, we both agreed - it was racist. Blatantly racist. What happened yesterday demonstrated how racist our police, military, and the people who were in power (won't be as of January 20) are. I mean during the Black Lives Matter Movement and the Women's March - which were peaceful protests - police attacked and gased folks. They beat them. Here? Not so much.
But neither of us were that surprised by it. Which is sad.
Will our government do its job and impeach Trump for Treason? I don't know.
I fear for my poor country. It's bleeding right now. But I've hope. There are people in place, leaders who can help heal it. But we must stay vigilant and on top of elections. And crack down on our domestic terrorism.

Difficulty focusing. Didn't sleep at all well last night. Kept tossing and turning. I feel as if I should be doing something - but I've no clue what.
Work is well work.
I took a brief walk after work - nothing major. It was too cold to go too far - my back doesn't handle cold well. It pesters the arthritis.
Hoping tomorrow is better. One day at a time. Frigging hell - 2021 has not gotten off to a good start, has it? But, we kind of knew it was going to be rough going for a while.
I'm still waiting for the Universe to deliver on those two miracles.
The sociopath booted out of the White House along with his cronies. So far, it's just his cronies that are leaving. Fleeing the place like the rats they are. And a cure for COVID.
Maybe they'll impeach the bastard over the weekend, and I won't have to deal with his antics any longer. Hope springs eternal.
Anyhow, here's a photo of the lettuce that I've been growing in my kitchen.

Bonus? It comes with a sun lamp - which helps with mood. And lighting in the kitchen.
And..yesterday's sunset.

Date: 2021-01-08 12:42 am (UTC)I remember posting about this in the first weeks of the lockdown, how there were marriages that were going to fall apart once people were together all the time and people could no longer hide their secrets. Sounds like she'll definitely be better off.
Glad your mom is doing better and your aunt is making a difference.

Date: 2021-01-08 01:12 am (UTC)I feel for my poor cousin - but she's moved back to her family's home in PA, and is living in a rented house a block or two from her brother. The kids are smiling again.
They moved her back home - because she was having a nervous breakdown. It was too much.
how there were marriages that were going to fall apart once people were together all the time and people could no longer hide their secrets.
Not just marriages. Roommates, lovers, boyfriends/girlfriends.
If you aren't used to spending a lot of time together, or living together in close proximity - it's going to cause issues.
And yeah, it's kind of hard to hide things from someone when you are in lockdown together.
My heart goes out to my cousin - who thought she'd married the love of her life. She had romanticized the relationship and him. The blinders were bound to come off eventually.

Date: 2021-01-08 04:25 pm (UTC)LOL. Thank you for this.
Is there an herb garden version of your indoor garden? I've been trying to grow cilantro and parsley in my front yard to no avail.
I'm holding onto hope that Trump gets prosecuted for bank fraud and tax evasion by the state of New York once he leaves office.
Even if the House manages to impeach him again--a big if because (1.) we have lost so many seats and (2.) we're running out of time--the Senate will never convict. Never. You need two thirds of the Senate to vote to do it--every Democrat, including Manchin, plus 17 Republicans. Yes, he is guilty of sedition but they don't have the moral courage to do it.
I'm glad your mom is doing okay and that your dad is, too. Yay for Aunt K.

Date: 2021-01-08 04:59 pm (UTC)Yes. They have heirloom lettuce, herbs (with parsely, basil and cilantro), and salsa (peppers and tomatoes), along with petunia see pod kits.

There's two actually - one is the NY's criminal investigation for tax evasion/fraud and bank fraud.
And the other is Georgia's for attempt to overthrow a Georgia election, and bribery.
And more after that. Plus, the International Courts have some claims against him.
That is assuming of course the Justice Department doesn't indite him Treason for what happened on January 6 and inciting a riot, which they can do.
He'd actually be better off if Pence invoked the 25 and then pardoned him. My guess is the reason Pence refuses to do that is partly that he's doesn't want to be railroaded into pardoning the bastard.
You can't pardon folks before they've been indited. And Biden is setting up the DoJ to act for the people.
Even if the House manages to impeach him again--a big if because (1.) we have lost so many seats and (2.) we're running out of time--the Senate will never convict. Never. Well, things have changed since January 6. There's quite a few Republicans who are either furious or scrambling to save face.
I think they are setting up to scapegoat the Trump supporters, and Trump in order to save their party. That's the reason a lot of the cabinet members are resigning right now - to a)avoid invoking the 25, and b) avoid being caught in the sedition charges.
Major donors are dropping various people who supported Trump. In the last 24 hours, Josh Hawley who lead the Senate effort - lost a major donor, and his mentor - who both condemned him for sedition. And a major publication contract was yanked.
Peggy Noonan - conservative columnist for the Wall Street Journal called for impeachment. And so did Newt Gingrich.
What we saw on January 6 was the implosion of the Republican Party - and they are scrambling right now to save themselves. What they do in the next two months will determine their future.
Oh, the Trump's social media accounts have been suspended - indefinitely on FB and Instagram, and possibly same on Twitter. He can't post and no one can retweet or share anything that he has.
I'm glad your mom is doing okay and that your dad is, too. Yay for Aunt K.
Thank you.
