Finally. We have a decent, kind man as President, and our first black woman of Jamaican and Sri Lankan (native Tamil) descent as Vice President. Thank you, God. Both are also - experienced in Government, served in the Senate, and know how it works. Kamala Harris was a Senator, and an Attorney General, also a lawyer. Biden served in the Senate for 36 years, and was Obama's VP, and a close advisor to Obama.
Jumping for Joy.
Hip-Hip-Hooray!
I'm getting what I so desperately wanted in 2020 on the political stage.
The thing gone. And a renewed focus on the environment.

Yes, I watched the inauguration starting at 10:30 am and until pretty much 1:30pm. With a break to call mother, and of course the staff meeting from doom.
I cried during it. The tears started with Kamala Harris being sworn in, and continued through Lady Gaga's exuberant rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of the Allegiance (which was also signed), J-Lo's mashup of This Land is Our Land/America the Beautiful, Biden's swearing in, Garth Brooks rendition of Amazing Grace, Biden's speech, Amanda Gorman's poem, and the preacher's words.
I think I was close to bawling at the end.
If you want to read the poem - you can find it HERE
Last stanza:
We will rebuild, reconcile and recover
and every known nook of our nation and
every corner called our country,
our people diverse and beautiful will emerge,
battered and beautiful
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it
And the last part of Biden's speech...
My fellow Americans, I close today where I began, with a sacred oath. Before God and all of you, I give you my word I will always level with you. I will defend the Constitution. I’ll defend our democracy. I’ll defend America. And I will give all, all of you, keep everything you–I do in your service, thinking not of power but of possibilities, not of personal interest but the public good. And together, we shall write an American story of hope, not fear; of unity, not division; of light, not darkness; a story of decency and dignity, love and healing, greatness and goodness.
May this be the story that guides us, the story that inspires us, and the story that tells ages yet to come that we answered the call of history. We met the moment. Democracy and hope, truth and justice did not die on our watch but thrived, that America secured liberty at home and stood once again is a beacon to the world. That is what we owe our forbearers, one another, and generation to follow.
So, with purpose and result, we turn to those tasks of our time, sustained by faith, driven by conviction, devoted to one another in the country we love with all our hearts. May God bless America and may God protect our troops. Thank you, America.
In case you were wondering about...the thing that previously occupied the White House, he left at 8 am, the sky was dark and cloudy then, and it was snowing outside my window. Then at 10 am, the sky had cleared, and blue mixed with clouds shone outside my window. As Biden spoke, the sun shone brightly on his face.
And in regards to the white supremacist protestors? Threatening us? Well, as I predicted, they stayed home. No large protests in DC, during inauguration. The Far Right told their cult followers to stay home. According to the NY Times?
At Four State Capitals - only the smallest of protestors. It fizzled, just as the million march on Washington scheduled for Sunday fizzled. There's really not that many of them. They are a whiny minority. Less than 1% of the US population. No where near the numbers that protested after January 20, 2017. That day, we had over 2-3 million nation wide.
It's nice to be proven right. I think it is over. There's more to come of course. Repercussions of January 6. And various alt-right Senators and Congress folks need to be spanked, along with their constituents. So this doesn't happen again. And new legislation needs to be passed to ensure it doesn't. But I think, the evil divisive regime of the Doofus is over. Finally. And he'll fade into obscurity once more.
So, Happy New Year, Folks! I think 2020 is finally over?
Family
Mother is back home. All is well, at least for the most part or as well as can be expected..
The ride showed up - it was a bus, which meant she had to climb steps, but not that many, and they were able to use the wheelchair for her to get out - so she didn't have to go down them.
She's doing okay. Has a home health care worker with her - helping out. The woman made a sandwich for her, and keeps bringing her things. Also helped clean up a mess in the bathroom - because mother lifted the first lid but not the second - and peed on it. Apparently when they cleaned the bathroom, they left down both lids on the toilet seat. (It's a raised toilet, so has two lids). Mother has been educating her helper on the Constitution and the history of the Senate. The helper is a recent immigrant from Jamaica, who recently became a US Citizen. She apparently knows a lot, so they were discussing it - and exchanging information.
Me: So you are getting along, okay?
Mother: Yes, she sits there and laughs at me a bit. (Mother is laughing).
When I called earlier...we were discussing Lady Gaga's performance and her dress.
Mother: I didn't see Lady Gaga perform.
Me: Oh, she was amazing. I cried during it. But her dress..was well, she had this huge velvet red skirt that was hard to walk in and had a trail...
Mother: (my name) says that lady Gaga had an insane skirt that was hard to walk in..
Me: Who are you talking to?
Mother: I'm telling Karen, the home health care worker from Jamaica.
Me: Oh. Well, Lady Gaga's skirt kind of looked like someone sewed it out of their drapes, then she wore this long sleeved top with this huge bird pin..
It was insane. I love her voice, but I swear her fashion designers have horrific taste.
Mother: I think she makes them herself -
Me: No, she hires high fashion designers, top-notch
Mother: (my name) doesn't think Lady Gaga's fashion designers have good taste.
I'm so relieved that my Mama is okay. That there were no problems getting her home. I had nightmares about this last night.
Now, I just have to worry about my father. Mother told the Preston, where he is staying, to put the television on - and let him watch the inauguration. That my Dad is a historian and would love that. Any channel but Fox. (He's a moderate liberal historian.) She's afraid to talk to him, because he wants to come home.
Crazy Workplace vs. The Coronavirus
According to Boss during the Staff Meeting From Doom:
"Regarding the virus, just going by the paperwork and messages that cross my desk daily? I can tell you that things are bad. Lots of people, including your coworkers, and those outside have come down with it. In short, we're in the thick of it right now. Please be careful. Stay safe. Take extra precautions. Thank you."
My guess, is that two members of our team got it, and recently recovered.
Or their families did.
The vaccine is hard to figure out. I don't know what to do. I may apply for an appointment this weekend on line, and just put myself in the system.
Jacob Javits has appointments, but they are controlled by the State, and the State is being more careful than the localities. It only does about a 1,000 appointments at a time, and is verifying people. No walk-ins. So not as much a free-for-all as the city.
But god knows.
Also, realized workplace is chaotic. Management doesn't know what it is doing. And according to J, is doing insane things. So, still treading water there - and doing change orders and task order releases.
Everything else is on hold for the time being. I'm letting it play out. I've had lulls before at crazy company, and survived them. Also, the agency isn't laying anyone off or raising fares at the moment. We got a stay of execution due to the last stimulus package.
I suspect a new one will be passed soon. But the Governor's are chomping at the bit.

I kind of wish I could throw the radicals all in a room, and lock the door. Come back a year or so later, and see if they've all killed each other yet or formed a sewing group.
