Mother is home from the hospital - but facing problems. She has to figure out how to arrange out-patient physical therapy at a facility away from her retirement center, without having the ability to drive to and from said facility.

My desire to strangle unhelpful and incompetent people continues, just so you know.

I wonder sometimes if I'm oversharing here. TMI. I don't know.

Talked to Chidi today, who called about a work-related issue. We talked about getting the vaccine. Read more... )

Mother: So what happens to your agency and this whole tranformation thing - at your workplace, if your Governor is forced to resign?[Erstwhile Governor is behind the big insane merger at crazy workplace - mainly because he can't keep his hands to himself and thinks he can fix everything, during a pandemic no less. But instead he just made crazy agency crazier - it was doing just fine without him.]
ME: Well, I'll be surprised if he does.
Mother: He's had two allegations. And what he's apologized for and admitted to- if true, that's truly awful.

Well, I've always said he was the liberal version of Trump. It's not like everyone didn't already know all of this. I just don't understand why it had to come out now. Ugh. Lando had been talking about the Governor getting caught for the last six years - because half of the man's administration is behind bars for corruption. Hello. It was only a matter of time. Also he screams at people for no reason. Everyone at crazy company hates him.

Like I said, the liberal version of Trump. I'd just rather convict Trump first - Cuomo, I can sort of live with. Oh well, maybe this will distract him from tinkering further with my crazy workplace? One can always hope.

Mother: So do you know what would happen with this tranformation if he had to resign? I know he's the one spearheading the merger, and pushing everything?
ME: I have no idea. Right now I think that's a runaway train that has long since left the station.

Be nice to think otherwise. But.

Now? His resignation would probably just plunge everything into chaos. As if things weren't chaotic enough as it is. I mean the Mayor is far worse than the Governor. I'm considering voting for Shaun Donovan for Mayor - he ran FEMA under Obama, and Obama spoke highly of him in Promised Land. The others seem to only know how to posture. I don't want an ideologue, I want a pragmatic leader. Although I'm not sure what De Blasio's views are.

If only this stuff came out five years ago, then maybe we could pull back that train.

I didn't take an actual walk - I just decided to post an interesting photo I took last month for the hell of it.

Hmm, I'm thinking of getting a haircut this coming weekend...my salon sent me an ad that they do it on Sundays now, and they have safety protocols in place. I may skip on the color though.

New York vs. the Coronavirus

So some good news? "Today, the New York State Clinical Advisory Task Force unanimously recommended the use of the Janssen Pharmaceuticals/Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. Johnson & Johnson's single-shot vaccine has less restrictive storage requirements that will make it easier for the state to reach more New Yorkers, faster. We expect to receive approximately 164,800 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week. There's a lot of work ahead, but with this vaccine's approval—the third one—we have cause for optimism as we move forward to a post-COVID future. "

That should get most of the city vaccinated by June. I may be able to wander around again? Possibly even see Wales?

They also added hotel workers to the eligible group. Read more... )

Everyone else vs. the Coronavirus

California, Riverside County is the first in the nation to prioritize farm workers for Covid vaccination. Epidemiologists say such programs will need to expand to have any chance of ending one of the biggest threats to the stability of the country’s food supply.

In Gila County, Ariz., about 90 miles from Phoenix, any resident over the age of 18 can walk into a clinic without an appointment right now and get a vaccine. The county offers a glimpse of what the rest of the country could soon look like — when age and health status aren’t barriers to getting a Covid shot.

It's bleak in Britain, but we already knew that via British friends, albeit British friends seem to be cheerier than this article is about it...so maybe we didn't? )

Other News

The ex-president of France was convicted and sentenced to jail on charges of corruption.

Nicolas Sarkozy convicted )

Curious to see what Obama thought of that - he talks a lot about Sarkozy in Promised Land. Also, if France can do this - why can't we? Come on! Convict the Doofus already! He makes Sarkozy look like a veritable saint in comparison. Convict the Doofus, then let him die in prison. Disband the Conservative Party as a terrorist organization.

Some good news?
The president of one of the largest adoption and foster care agencies in the U.S., Bethany Christian Services, in announcing that it will begin providing services to L.G.B.T.Q. parents nationwide.

The move is a significant departure for the 77-year-old Protestant organization, which previously referred openly gay prospective parents to other agencies in most states.
YAY! This gives me hope.

On that bright and shiny note, I'm calling it a night.
