Every time I'd complain in February, my father would say, "you have a case of the February uglies."

Gloomy, glum, ugly day. The sky was the color of sleet or granite. So was the snow. And the pavement. And the trees. In fact that dull gray color hung over everything.

I forgot to take my meds this morning.Read more... )

Brain fog this morning. Too tired. Hadn't slept that well the night before, and work is stressing me out at the moment.

Anyhow, on the train about twenty minutes away from work, super calls me to ask if they can paint my apartment today.

Had similar interaction with Wales, who is thinking things are getting better with COVID, since no one at her workplace has gotten it since she came down with it. Wish I could say the same about mine - every week, it's someone else. On Twitter someone asked if anyone had been vaxxed and boosted that didn't have it - they were looking for a bit of hope. I tweeted well, Myself and my entire extended family with just a few exceptions, has been vaxxed and boosted and not tested positive for COVID. (We've had colds but not COVID - according to various tests.) So 20 people?

Latest co-worker to come down with it - had a mild case. So far 85% of my co-workers appear to have had it. Along with their entire families.

Meanwhile according to mother, niece is off to Southern Portugal with her roommate. Read more... )

In case no one has figured it out by now? (Not sure how, it should be obvious.) I have a self-deprecating wit. I beat myself up before anyone else can or put myself down before they get the chance. It can back fire, when they don't correct me - which they don't, so 98% of the time, still works nicely as a shield. Been doing that at work a lot lately, mainly because I feel like a colossal hypocrite for complaining about things.

Used to drive my father nuts - mainly because it's hard to be critical of someone who has beat you to it. He does the same thing, so he should at least know where I learned it from.

Crazy Workplace had the all hands on deck town hall meeting - basically a huge group meeting with everyone in the specific agency. Read more... )

I feel like I live in bizarro world - where what I see in front of me, touch, taste, and hear is not what everyone is saying it is. It's as if the world is trying to gaslight me?

I decided to take Friday off as a vacation day - rather than brave the icy sleety mix that is being predicted for Friday. Plus I wanted a mental health day.

I told Breaking Bad that I had decided to take vacation day as opposed to putting my life at risk. He seemed to agree, considering he took Monday off to dig his car out of snow drifts.

Do you have dreams that you remember from a long time ago that feel vaguely like memories...and you wonder if they are real, but realize there's no possible way that they can be? I wonder if this what my father feels like most of the time?

The brain fog is definitely back - and it makes it hard to hold onto thoughts at times. Or remember crap.

Like what I was going to write next.

Oh...soap opera.

Media Critic - GH is the best written soap, best cast, best writers, and it just keeps getting better and better.

GH fandom: Huh? Are we even watching the same show? Are you stoned? Definitely A+ cast...but huh?

Also, we're beginning to think we're in an abusive relationship with this television show. It keeps promising us a great fun-filled hour of romance, and hijinks - and we keep tuning in, and it doesn't deliver.

And COVID

COVID cases are way down in the city, and state. All the way down to 5%. So we're headed back into the office en mass on February 14. Because management who has big offices, not cubicles, misses seeing everyone in the office and likes coming into the office. Apparently they don't like being in their big offices surrounded by a ghost town. Go figure.

They are going to run into some problems - since other workplaces and agencies have gone remote. And they just aren't competitive any longer.

People are getting lax again about the virus. Also subways are getting more crowded as are the trains.

And I'm flirting with books on my phone kindle. It's between a historical romance and Left Hand of Darkness. Also in paperback, Evelyn Waugh's A Handful of Dust.

I don't know about anyone else? But I'm exhausted.

So here, have a picture:

[Hmm, I should figure out how to do an icon of that photo.]
