Y2/D350...The countdown begins..
Mar. 1st, 2022 09:20 pmto the dreaded daylight savings time (ugh, bloody Republicans), the fifty-fifth birthday, and alas to year three of this bloody pandemic. (Which hopefully is winding down - but honestly, I doubt it. )
I'm trying to figure out how to celebrate. At most, I'm going to try to take the blessed day off - if the insane organization I've been dumped into against my will lets me. We were all perfectly happy working for the Rail Road, it was disorganized, but not insanely bureaucratic. (Also it helped that evil marketing folks and lawyers weren't running the show). Now - we've been dumped into transit.
Oh well, at least I now understand why everything runs and works the way it does in NYC. Not many people can say that. I get this crazy ass city in ways few people do. Also I see more it than most.
I decided not to get a snack upstairs today - mainly because I didn't want to walk the homeless gauntlet while the Port Authority Police Force stood idly by. It's depressing. My co-workers avoid it for the same reasons.

I tried to buy myself some stuff on Brooklyn Linen's site - but the site is impossible to navigate, also you can't find the basket on it. When I tried to get assistance -
Me: Where's the check out cart on your site?
Chat: Here's an article on how to change your order after you receive it by returning it and getting a refund. Was this helpful?
Me: No.
Chat: Here's an article on how to change shipping information - it's sent by email, and you can do it that way. Does this help?
Me: No.
Chat: Perhaps rephrase? Or you can contact support?
ME: Contacts support.
Support: there's a basket on the upper left hand side of your screen.
Me: No there isn't.
Support: Can you send a screen shot.
ME: I try and the chat crashes.
I give up, send an email and get out of there. I figure they can't exactly charge me for it - since I never entered the billing information.
Note to website designers? It's important that your customers be able to navigate your site to buy things. Style isn't the most important thing here. If I can't navigate your site, I'm not going to buy anything. So all that pretty is completely lost on me. Also, notice to database managers - learn how to be patient with folks who don't understand your fucking database and lingo.
Speaking of...Wordl decided to get even more obscure. Today's word is a Pakistani word for currency, it's not even English. I'm calling foul.
As you can tell, I'm frustrated. But otherwise okay. And I did get things done at work today. Also worked with other people to get stuff done, so team-work. My little group is trying to navigate its way through this crazy new organization without being devoured and spit out like raw meat. Actually it feels more like we're fighting with gnats. Kind of like fighting with the soap opera fandom to be honest.
Here's a picture.
