Haven't done much today, outside of trying to write, and flirting with an expensive photo site. I'm trying to figure out how to make poster size or large picture prints of several of my photographs, to hang on my walls. Right now I've taped a bunch of photos to my wall, and I have a canvas picture of a sunset leaning against a wall on top of my bookcase.

I really need to be-friend a handy person. Or figure out how to become one. Or fork up the dough to pay one.

I did manage to write a few paragraphs. I've got a bit of a brain fog. And lack motivation. Mother informs me that I'm most likely grieving the loss of something I'd been told was real - and wasn't. In short, my workplace pulled the rug out from under me. I'd convinced myself and everyone around me that moving to Manhattan was a great idea, only to find out it was all a lie, and I'm most likely better off where I am.

Did clean my bathroom. And will hopefully get around to doing laundry tomorrow. I took this time off - partly because I was pissed off at my workplace and needed a breather, before I said something I'd regret. Trying not to write something I'd regret.

Watched:

Percy Jackson and the Olympians - first three episodes on Disney +. Better than expected. It's entertaining, even if I'm not exactly the demographic.

Does a good job of reconstructing Greek Myths for a modern age.

Slow Horses - finished S1, currently into S2 - on Apple +, very good British espionage series. It's an adaptation of the Slow Horses, which has the same name. (I don't know whether it is fiction or non-fiction.) It follows the exploits of a bunch of failed agents that have been put to pasture so to speak under the guidance of a has been cold war agent, Lamb, who has secrets of his own. Kind of a Dramedy? Leans towards wit, and sarcasm than satire, parody, or slapstick - in other words its up my alley but may not be up others.

Tried Shrinking, gave up after ten minutes. Also tried Hack the Space, and Fix that House, and Impossible Houses, all on Netflix. They just made me want to move into a different living space or hire someone to renovate my own.

On books? I'm still reading Paladin's Grace - it's not as good as T Kingfisher's horror novels. Meanders more, and there's a lot of tedious pining and yearning. Boink already and be done with it. Seriously. I want to get to the plot and character development.

Started Yellowface by R F Kuang - this is the satire about the publishing industry. Basically a young Asian prodigy dies, and her envious white friend decides to sell her book as her own. Or something like that.
I don't know if I can make it through it or not - I bought it out of curiosity and more for Wales than myself. Wales likes dark satires, I tend to get irritated by them?

Also have read a lot of X-men comic books of late, and Gods by Jonathan Hickman, which has great art, and stars Doctor Strange in a supporting role. The comics are interesting in that they seem to be more graphic novels now than comics, with various tweaks on text. For example? There's memos in there from one character to another, text messages, and letters. Plus secret files. Newspaper columns. It's rather innovative and creative - in how it does narrative format.
