Here we go again...
Oct. 16th, 2007 02:41 pmI was laid-off today. Along with fifteen other people, including cubicle mate, and a gal whose husband is currently being detained by immigration because his visa expired. Even the recruiter who hired me was laid-off. Found out at 11:45. Got home by 12:35.
Not a good day.
Said goodbye to the people I cared about. Chatted with one of the other people who got laid-off. Then went home, cried, got on the computer and sent off the requisite emails. Because when you get laid-off - you tell everyone, because you never know who might know about a possible job opportunity. Can't ask for unemployment until next week apparently - so will claim it then.
I swear I have the worst luck when it comes to job-hunting.

However, don't wait on the unemployment. It takes a couple weeks for the paperwork to grind through.

Date: 2007-10-17 04:10 pm (UTC)On the unemployment? They won't let me file my claim until next week since I worked two days this week and my gross is more than their payment apparently - been through this before and I tried yesterday, but it wouldn't let me file. Unemployment is completely electronic now and very fast - they send it into direct deposit or a bank card. It's no big, just means I'll get the unemployment longer. Have two weeks severance coming to me, plus the vacate time and two days I worked.
