Jan. 11th, 2011 10:31 pm1. Hmmm...looked at the preview pages of the Spike #4 comic - which will hopefully be available Sunday (the day I buy comics). It looks promising. The art has actually improved. Dru looks like Dru and Spike looks like Spike. Progress. Also, I like the dialogue and set-up.
Then I glanced at other journals?? Apparently I'm the only Spike fan and Spuffy fan who likes the idea of a Spike/Dru reunion and finds it interesting? What? Spike was with Dru for 100 years and she returned his affections for most of it, while Buffy...that's still up in the air, as far as I can tell.
Also it's not exactly like any of these characters are monogamous in their affections. Whedon has created a polygamous world. Hee. Of course it may help greatly that I no longer traffic the boards and avoid fandom shipper wars. (because they give me a headache and have zip to do with characters or story and provide nothing at all constructive, outside of making one's blood pressure skyrocket - ie. it's like arguing politics at work. My blood-pressure doesn't need the additional workout.)
Speaking of politics - a really interesting animation film rec'd by sisinlaw.

Date: 2011-01-12 06:15 pm (UTC)Will let you know. Right now it's a bit uneven, but in comparison to Willingham, Meltzer, and Whedon...actually pretty good.
I think the unhappiness stems from the Bangel being v. happy that Spike is with Someone Other Than Buffy. *shrugs*
Sigh. I swear some Bangel and Spuffy fans make obsessive sports fans look relatively sane in comparison. If they were at all logical - they'd realize that all three characters have been with multiple partners other than each other, and have at different points passionately boinked each other. Spike's boinked Angel (or vice versa - it's relatively unclear), Angel's boinked about every blond from here to eternity - I'm guessing he has a fetish for blonds? Oh wait, there was Cordelia - although they never actually boinked. Actually if you count...Angel's boinked and been with more people than Spike - but he is also the lead...so there's that. I keep waiting for the threesome...oh wait, there was one in Buffy's fantasy and the fans spent six issues arguing over who Buffy preferred from the art.
Did not help that Jeanty and Allie chimed in. Although in retrospect, I can see why - they were trying to build up the fact that Buffy had unresolved romantic feelings for Angel - because otherwise issues 32-39 does not work. Unfortunately, I didn't see that built up in the text at all, Xander/Buffy maybe, or Spike/Buffy - from the lack of a mention and the fact that we didn't know if she knew if he was alive or dead until issue 36. But Buffy/Angel? That looked like a bit of romantic nostalgia, nothing more. No...it was only built up in their interviews, which I'm sorry is not the same thing as the text!
