Jan. 11th, 2011 10:31 pm1. Hmmm...looked at the preview pages of the Spike #4 comic - which will hopefully be available Sunday (the day I buy comics). It looks promising. The art has actually improved. Dru looks like Dru and Spike looks like Spike. Progress. Also, I like the dialogue and set-up.
Then I glanced at other journals?? Apparently I'm the only Spike fan and Spuffy fan who likes the idea of a Spike/Dru reunion and finds it interesting? What? Spike was with Dru for 100 years and she returned his affections for most of it, while Buffy...that's still up in the air, as far as I can tell.
Also it's not exactly like any of these characters are monogamous in their affections. Whedon has created a polygamous world. Hee. Of course it may help greatly that I no longer traffic the boards and avoid fandom shipper wars. (because they give me a headache and have zip to do with characters or story and provide nothing at all constructive, outside of making one's blood pressure skyrocket - ie. it's like arguing politics at work. My blood-pressure doesn't need the additional workout.)
Speaking of politics - a really interesting animation film rec'd by sisinlaw.

Date: 2011-01-12 11:32 pm (UTC)What makes me want to read it is actually the Spike/Willow interaction--which for some reason interests me more than Spike/Dru! Lynch's style has its ups and downs; I'm not a fan but I'm not against him per se. I should say that I'll probably read it depending on what people say once all the issues are out. (The PTB is still much cheaper than the individual issues. Plus maybe I can just, er, read it in Chapters or some such....)

Date: 2011-01-13 12:29 am (UTC)And I'm admittedly interested in Spike and Willow as well. The three reunions that I was curious about are Spike and Dru (I want to see how he deals with her - with a soul. I'm less interested in how she deals with him, than I am with how he deals with her), Spike and Willow (I want to know how they handle each other - since in some respects they mirrored one another in S6 and later - and the series never delved into that or examined their relationship - an unanswered and unasked question that continues to annoy me.) Spike and Buffy (because I want to know how they handle the fact he survived Sunnydale and what happens after that moment...but it also has never been significantly or satisfyingly addressed or asked. And apparently never ever will be. Instead their reunion was used to provide bad exposition.)
Sigh. Would be happy if just one out of the three gets addressed in a partially satisfying manner...right now? we're 0-0. Joss struck out. Lynch is up to bat. It's at the bottom of the ninth.
Let's see if he can hits a grounder, doubt a homerun is doable. At this point I'd settle for a pop-fly, to be honest. Sorry for the baseball metaphors, I'd do cricket, but I don't understand cricket. ;-)
