Upon reading flist's take on the recent spoilers in the Buffy S9 comics, my immediate reaction was..wait, does herself_nyc know that Whedon stole her idea?


Apparently Buffy is pregnant and going to lose an arm in the Buffy comics.
Which has actually been done before, albeit slightly differently, in a series of fanfic novellas by herself_nyc way back in 2002-2003. Buffy lost her arm or lleg (can't remember which) and got a prosthetic. She also got pregnant with Spike's kid but by time travel (so at least that's different) and it happened aduring Season 6 (so that's different).

Gee, original ideas...hard to come by. But always new ways of telling the same old stories.

I'm beginning to think, we're the only ones. Herself isn't paying attention so probably didn't notice.

Must say, very glad I stopped reading, the whole thing sounds somewhat silly.

No, I mentioned it on some other post a couple of days ago, though only in reference to losing the limb. (The pregnancy thing hadn't been confirmed then.) And then by the time she wrote the next story in the series, Herself forgot she'd had Buffy lose a leg, and when readers pointed out the discrepancy, she just handwaved that it had been fixed between stories by magic. So there's totally precedent for Canon!Buffy to be handwaved all better within an issue or two, as well! :D

Hee. Considering Whedon handwaved Warren being alive and kicking (albeit skinless) after he was summarily burned to ashes in S6...yeah, I'd say there's Canon! percedence.
