shadowkat: (Tv shows)

I listed all the night-time television series that are "currently" on somewhere in the world. Note currently. Not tv shows that are on hiatus or won't show up again until next year or recently ended. Which is why Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, Covert Affairs, Mad Men, Defiance, and Breaking Bad are not listed. Had to draw the line somewhere - too many frigging tv shows.

So below are the one's I know about and could remember, but do not necessarily watch. If your favorite isn't on the list - check Other, and list in the comments.

[ETA: Note to self - have someone beta your polls before submitting, so you won't make dumb mistakes like list one television show twice in the same poll. Points if you can figure out which one. UGH! And I forgot Dracula and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. ]

I was very unhappy with Arrow last week. I gave it another try this week, but couldn't finish the episode. Much the same thing happened to me last year with Nikita. Call it the CW disease.

It's that bad? I haven't tried it this year yet - but have all the episodes on the DVR. Thinking of marathoning over Thanksgiving weekend.

But I admittedly gave up on Nikita the second year. So if it's similar to what Nikita did...

It's same of the sort of thing that happened on Nikita. Many of the characters from the first season have changed sides or are otherwise behaving contrary to their old selves... The best new character on Arrow supposedly died in the pilot... That kind of thing.

Ohh...see I don't mind when they change sides, as long as it is built over time (example Spike and Faith), but when it is done sort of out of the blue - for plot reasons or relationship reasons? I get annoyed. Which was what happened with Nikita and why I lost interest.

And yes, you're correct CW series do that a lot. They often sacrifice characters for hair-pin plot twists or shockers. Not taking the time to build up to the plot twist.

I'd actually argue that this particular twist was very well laid out and holds up perfectly, to a degree that I'm convinced it was part of the long-term arcing plan from the start. It's that woven into the fabric of the show, and holds up to scrutiny and rewatching. But I generally agree for CW shows. In fact, there's *another* thing happening on Arrow that's a pretty atrocious example of a character being written completely out of character for plot reasons. Don't want to say much more, though, for fear of spoiling either twist!

I actually really like the twists and character work on Arrow. And I agree that the specific twist I think you're thinking off felt completely right.

Thanks! I was considering deleting the ten episodes I have saved to my DVR, but now you've sparked my curiousity enough to keep them and do a marathon.
