[Speaking of memes - one last plug for the January Talking Meme - pick and topic and sign up HERE. Picking a topic for someone to discuss is admittedly not as easy as it looks - I struggled finding ones for the folks on my flist.]

1. Your main fandom of the year?
Once Upon a Time. But only on lj.
2. Your favourite film watched this year?
Right now - it's American Hustle, which just plays with my mind. There's so many layers to the performances and crafty dialogue.
I admittedly haven't seen that many films this year.
3. Your favourite book read this year?
Eh...Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner with Swordspoint - they should actually be read together, and you should read Swordspoint first, I read them in reverse order. Don't do that - kills the suspense of the first one. They were different than most of the novels I've read, not at all what I'd expected, and haunted me long afterwards. The romance in both is same-sex, not heterosexual, yet within the heterosexual historical romantic trope - sort of a same-sex boddice ripper, if you prefer, which was rather interesting.
4. Your favourite TV show of the year?
It was a very good year for tv, both new (how so awesome, Orphan Black?), and recurring/finishing. It's hard to choose just one.
I'd have to say it's a tie between The Good Wife and Once Upon a Time - which I can't wait to watch each week. Although Scandal and Orphan Black were definitely up there.
5. Your favourite online fandom community of the year?
2ceuponatime, which will resume its s1 rewatch now that the show proper is on hiatus. It's honestly the only one I'm following. I don't tend to participate that heavily in fandoms. Several of them scare me. But this one is fun and inventive.
6. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Orphan Black - which had been highly rec'd and I binged watched in June. (Once Upon a Time - I was already following). Runner up was Scandal - also highly rec'd and surprised me.
7. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Marvel Agents of Shield. (Oh dear...)
8. Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Eh...I don't exactly ship any that hard at the moment. I'd say its most likely a three-way tie between Raylin Gibbons (Justified), Baelfire/Neal Cassidy (Once Upon a Time - although he didn't do much in the fall and I was disappointed), Jaime (Game of Thrones).
I know, I know - you'd think I'd pick Captain Hook - and he is attractive, but he is also a wee bit too obvious not to mention predictable an example of the classic rogue with a heart of a gold trope. (I feel like the writers and the costume department are going out of their way to make me want him.) I prefer Baelfire/Neal, who is a far more complex and subversive take on the trope - although I'm not sure I trust the writers to figure that out. (Also it would help if the actor playing Baelfire looked less stoned in the last couple of episodes.) I realize I may be in the minority on this front. My mother and I discussed and did not agree on it - she prefers Hook who is sexier and finds Baelfire sort of dull.
Runner Up: Cyrus Beene (Scandal)
9. Your TV girlfriend of the year?
A three way tie: Emma Swan (who is my default icon) from OUAT, Diane from The Good Wife, and finally Brienne from Game of Thrones.
Runner's up: Alicia Florik (Good Wife) and Olivia Pope (Scandal)
10. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Hard to choose.
* Hitting the Fan - the episode in which everything changed on The Good Wife.
* The Day of the Doctor
* The Breaking Bad Series Finale
* The Peter Pan plot twists on Once Upon a Time and the Once Upon a Time Mid-Season Finale
* My discovery of the awesomeness of Scandal S2 and Orphan Black
11. The most missed of your old fandoms?
Still Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Whedon fandom. It's really the only fandom I was passionate about or invested in. It's gone more or less now or rather my interest in it is.
Will always adore Buffy, but I find I'm losing interest in the show-runner/creator of the series as time moves forward, which is most likely for the best.
12. The fandom you haven’t tried yet, but want to?
Nothing comes to mind.
13. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Orphan Black, season 2: will it keep up the quality or have a second year downfall? OUAT's return in March and how they'll start it up again. The new Doctor Who.
