Welcome back Maze. A week with Maze, Detective Dan, and Dr. Linda...and no Ella or Tom Welling/Pierce. YAY! I missed Maze, although she looks different, softer somehow. Did miss Amenadial.
Rather liked that episode. This is my favorite procedural, although it's not a true procedural. In fact the writers aren't even trying any longer with the procedural. Reminds me of what happened with the Good Wife and Angel the Series, started out as a procedural, writers got sort of bored, and went off in another direction. Works for me. I'm not a fan of procedurals, I'm too good at figuring out the mystery ahead of the characters and well, then what's the point?

* Speaking of figuring out plots ahead of characters? I'm going out on a limb and stating for the record that Lt. Pierce (Tom Welling) is the Big Bad this season and most likely The Sinnerman, who has information on everyone. And he's going after Lucifer not Chloe. I'm willing to bet he was the figure putting in the files at the end of the episode. And wearing the rubber clothes. At least the physique looked like Welling's. And it explains why they cast Welling -- because it would be fun to cast against type. They cast Tricia Heifer last season as God's wife and Mother of Creation. This season Tom Welling (former Superman) as the Sinnerman.

* Loved this episode. Maze falls in love, sort of. And the romantic love interest/con-man was appealing. I found him charming, and not plastic buff boy pretty.

Loved the fact that the killer they go up against is female, with a gun. And how Maze continues to take people down.

* Maze/Trixie...adorable. Once Maze comes back, so does Trixi! Yay.

* Also Maze/Dr. Linda - which I've been platonically shipping for a while now. All my ships on this show tend to be platonic and most of them are with Dr. Linda. Although I really would like to see Det Dan and Amenadial together.

* Lucifer had less to do this episode, and less of the focus was on him...which was interesting.
I did like how it got across that he cared deeply for Maze.

"He broke my Maze!"

Tom Ellis is funny and hot. I've managed to hand-wave Lucy not being blond like he is in the comics, because of Ellis.

While I do like Lucy and Chloe together, I wish she would disappear when he's interviewing suspects.
When she's around, he can't be his devilish self.

Fun episode.

Oh, and my other favorite television show is back -- "Good Behavior" -- it's also a darkly funny series, but about a thief, a hitman, and her kid on the run.

Right now my favorite tv shows on or must watch shows on cable (not streaming) are:

* Lucifer
* The Good Place
* Good Behavior
* Grey's
* Poldark
* This is Us
* Riverdale
* Big Bang Theory

And possibly The Gifted.

Enjoying Inhumans and Seal Team. On the fence about everything else.

Can't say I'm fangurl or fannish about any of it...but I'm rarely fannish about things. Last thing I was somewhat fannish about may have been Farscape, but I came so late to the party -- it lasted a year. BSG -- fannish about for a little while, but got annoyed with the final season. Same deal with Lost. Also happened with Once Upon a Time - was fannish for the first three seasons, then got annoyed. Similar situation with Veronica Mars.

The only series I think I managed to stay fannish about during and after its entire run was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's among the few series that I got more fannish about as it went, usually it's the opposite. I'm not really a cereal fan (meaning jumping from fandom to fandom, not the breakfast cereal).

The actress who plays Maze is just back from maternity leave, isn't she? Stands to reason she looks a little different.

Actually this ep was recorded before she went on leave while she was still pregnant (you can see her carrying things to hide the baby bump in several shots). So that is why she looks softer. That is also why there is no Lt Pierce. This episode, and three others, were originally supposed to be standalones as part of season 2, presumably intended to fill in before the finale arc. They got moved to this season for some reason I don't know, but presumably to do with money.

Yes, the bit with the filing cabinet must have been added for this season's arc. Shapinglight has more about that in her latest post.

Yes, I suspected the same thing in the past episode and given that these episodes were made in the spring I can see why they decided to put these episodes in the next season instead. The whole arc last season was about Mom whereas this one is apparently about a supernatural Moriarty, so this does make the storyline neater.

"He broke my Maze!"

Ha, I liked that line (and outrage) as well.
