Jan. 12th, 2007 08:26 pmJust created a yummy new desert or ahem an alcoholic drink - in a wine glass put whip cream, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, melt some chocolat with cream in the microwave - pour on top, add a little liguor (vodaka was what I used or if you don't like alcohol - skip) add more whip cream.
Ahhh...
Yes, some people use recipe books when they cook, me? I just throw stuff together and see what works. The kitchen is another word for a chemistry set in my lexicon.
Sorry for the spamming, somewhat buzzed and very bored. Also my mind will not let me work on my novel, dang-it. Maybe later. Hopes.

Date: 2007-01-13 05:00 am (UTC)Berries and whip cream are very good together. My new obsession.
NUMB3RS sounds like it might have been much more entertaining than what I rented via netflix. Over The Hedge - which is not at all like the comic strip it that inspired it, but rather a great deal like Cars in theme, dialogue, and resolution. Got a lot of knitting done though even if I still have no idea what it can be, possibly a really weird looking blue scarf?
Ah laundry...did mine yesterday morning, but always put it away when I get home - course can't really do too much of it - somewhat limited by the amount can lug to the mat and the fact that I have no where to really put it but on my bed when I return. Wasn't too bad - spent the two hours at the mat knitting and listening to an old Irish lady who was knitting a scarf for her 32 year old son - she told me all about her family and how she learned to knit. Going to the laundry mat is oddly social at times. Have all sorts of odd conversations. In the background the laundress' were having a heated conversation in Chinese.

Date: 2007-01-13 05:35 am (UTC)But there are no apartments with washer/dryer hooks ups anywhere around here...however on each floor (on the other side of the court yard) there is a little laundry room w/two washers and two dryers. This is actually convenient, I can wait until I have two loads worth and do them at the same time, it means a lot of lugging back and forth to and from my apartment, but really pretty convenient (relatively speaking, nothing is as convenient as owning my own!).
Sorry to go on and on... I'm afraid I really miss my washer & dryer.

Date: 2007-01-13 06:02 am (UTC)I don't mind doing laundry in of itself. What I mind is lugging the bag down three flights of steps, to the sidewalk, three blocks to the mat, hoping and praying that the machines I want are available and there are enough for three loads (always tends to be three - one linens (hot), one clothes or bright colors (cold) and one undies/light colors(warm)). Then sit for two hours. Worry about getting a dryer - you have to compete with the laundress and other customers (pray no matrons come in - they take six machines sometimes) and then hope for a folding table to fold your laundry afterwards.
When I had a job - I used to just drop it off and have them do it - was about five/six bucks more but a great time saver. Takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours at the mat and one at home folding/making bed up clean. Ugh.
But...there are advantages, like the old Irish lady and sometimes it can be relaxing just to get away from the apartment...and hang out. So shouldn't whine too much.

I enjoyed NUMB3RS, but the actually cases mean nothing to me, I love the brothers and the Father (they have him dating a colleague of, or actually a department head over) Charlie now, and I love the actress. And I adore the craftmen's style house with all the beautiful craftmen's style furniture...
I don't feel too weird for loving those aspects since they are always featured in every episode.

Date: 2007-01-13 06:10 am (UTC)Understand. Feel much the same way when people talk about all those cookies
they are baking - I have an flist that occassionally gets obsessed with baking cookies, pies, cakes and bread for some reason. It's died down a bit now, but between Halloween and Xmas - it's just one cookie/bread recipe - icon after another...ugh. LOL! (I'm gluten intolerant.)
Right now they are obsessed with kitty cats - so today I innocently went online only to feel the oddest desire to go adopt a putty cat. (kitten or cat). The culprit? This adorable video of a huge cat who was stealing food, named goliath. He looks absolutely adorable in it. My heart went out to the poor thing for some reason or other. Course can't bloody afford a kitty cat nor for that matter am I technically speaking permitted to own one - lease has a clause that says that I am not allowed to have a pet. But boy did lj make me want one.
LJ can be a dangerous place...for the weakwilled...and envy prone. But quite nifty for those who like to live vicariously...;-)
