Day #11 of 30 Days of Halloween

A paranormal television, book or film series that features monsters as lead characters that you enjoyed

[Note - the monsters can be featured as secondary characters, just not be solely the antagonists - they kind of should be protagonists as well as antagonists. Note - I said protagonist - this means that yes it can be an anti-hero series featuring monsters.]

Mine?

The Vampire Diaries

I have to admit I adore the paranormal genre with monsters as protagonists. I've watched so many of them. They don't scare me, that much, and I love the metaphors. Currently watching Teen Wolf - but not gotten far enough to make a clear determination. Vamp Diaries is another example of a television series I thought I'd hate and ended up loving.

*Note I deliberately made this pretty broad - so you can pick film, films, television movies, series, mini-series, or novels. Also the characters can be antagonists. Also it can be animated.

Day #10 of the 30 Days of Halloween

The prompt is:

A favorite musical orchestration (must be orchestration not song) that is spooky or scary or Halloween oriented - it can be associated with a television show, film, or separate entity

See? This is why you should have picked songs for the previous category. Aren't I evil?

Mine?

Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky from the movie Fantasia.

Day #9 of the 30 Days of Halloween Challenge

The prompt is A horror television show soundtrack or theme song

Carry On My Wayward Son - Supernatural

This theme song fits the show perfectly. I downloaded the song because of the series. It is over the front credits or the preview section.

Oh youtube suddenly stopped letting me copy and embed videos in my journal and on FB. I have no idea why.

Day 6 of 30 Day of Halloween Challenge

The prompt is Scariest horror movie soundtrack

Hmmm..

And the rejected score determined by the movie studio to be too scary for audiences. They made William Freidkian remove it - because it scared the audience so badly.

Day #5 of 30 Days of Halloween Challenge

The prompt is Most interesting character brought back from the dead/resurrection(can be the craziest, best, twisted, funniest or worst)

I'm going with the most interesting...and at times aggravating, but definitely different..I don't think anyone else has done it this way. I could be wrong of course.

This is Day 4 of the 30 Days of Halloween Challenge.

The prompt is Best or worst film or television adaptation of a vampire novel.

I'm going with a television series that improved on the books..which weren't that good. I read most of the novel series - so feel I can actually make that assessment, and I saw the complete series, which admittedly went bonkers at the end..and off the rails, but so did the books.

This is Day #3 of the 30 Days of Halloween Challenge

The prompt is A favorite Vampire-related television, song, film or novel series.

My difficulty is I want to use my all time fav for something else. So...I'm going with..the movie that inspired my all time fav..

Keifer Sutherland who is a notorious jerk, is amazing in this film. He makes the film work all on his own. Also Sutherland and Jason Patrick are hot.

This is Day #2 of the 30 Day Halloween Challenge

The prompt is... A favorite female or male actor that you enjoy in horror films or television series

Hmmm... this is harder than I thought.

Well, I don't really have one that has translated well in more than one television series that I'd consider horror...no wait, there is one.

I'm going with...Bruce Campbell.

This is Day #1 of 30 Days of Halloween Challenge.

I'm doing it because there was a tie between it and the television challenge.

The prompt is Funniest horror or Halloween related film, book, song or horror television series you've seen or at least makes you laugh

Mine is a film -

[I may kill my lj, html coding in this thing is making me crazy, sorry for all the edits and weird cut-tagging. I'm bored and procrastinating doing things that well I'd rather not go into. So am writing a lengthy post on The Horror Genre, in celebration of Halloween. Please note that I've left out anime, graphic novels, and a lot of TV shows and focused mainly on films and books. Because otherwise this would have been twenty pages long.]

I have what best can be described as long-term love/hate relationship with the Horror Genre. personal history regarding horror or the introduction )

Categorizing the Horror Genre (assuming of course, we can do such a thing?)

1. Popular or Mainstream Horror )

2. Classical Horror )

3. Mad Science or Horror in the Science Fiction Genre )

3. Psychological Horror )

4.The Slasher Horror Flicks )
